Riddle me this
<div class="text-justify">

*I am unmotivated. I procrastinate. I am lazy.*

Yet when it comes to writing for Steem, there is absolutely no issue at all. Sure, some will say because of the value but, I live in Finland where a bottle of coke is about 10 Steem. Of course, this doesn't factor in how I see Steem and that I am unable to buy that much of it directly now (I buy what I can, when I can) and it doesn't factor in that I believe that one day the value of Steem is going to be much higher. But, why do I enjoy writing here so much?

https://i.imgur.com/zStOg0a.jpg

I could literally sit here all day and write blogs and one of the reasons I write such long blogs is because I feel that I would be taken to task for splitting them into more convenient pieces. So, I end up putting several thoughts into one post so as not to Haejin the blockchain.

There are so, so many interesting things to write about in this world and a lot of them for me at the moment tie into Steem because that is where I see my future. If you have a future vision or position you would like to be in and you aren't thinking about it *and* working toward it, you probably don't want it enough to actually accomplish it.

I consider the people who aren't working to build their Steem collectibles but are hoping that it goes to the moon, delusional. Sure, people might think that I am somewhat delusional when it comes to my attitude toward Steem but, I am still working as if my delusions are in fact possible to achieve. This is perhaps a less delusional position.

Some of course won't invest themselves or their money in Steem because of the risk of loss or failure. That is okay, they likely won't invest themselves into anything for precisely the same reason. However, I think that one of the largest reasons many people don't want to invest into Steem is because if it fails, they are going to feel very foolish in hindsight for not believing all the doomsdayers.

Have you noticed when people invest into stocks they rarely talk about what stocks or how much they have invested? This is not just because talking about money is in "poor taste", it is because if they miscalculate and make an error, *someone knows* that they made a loss, that they screwed up. My father would get lost while driving all the time but, *"He never got lost when driving alone".*

With Steem transparency however, everyone's accounts (unless totally anon) are there for the world to see and, this includes the failures like when hodlers hold while prices crash, even though if they dumped, the sellers would fetch a much lower price too. I am a hodler of Steem, I have earned, I have bought, I haven't sold. What a fool - but how many are buying in while prices are at their lowest point against BTC? Oh, they don't have BTC either? Umm... *I thought you were all up in that crypto shit booooiiii!*

People like to talk about all things as if they have skin in the game but the only way to have skin in the game is ironically, *to put fucking skin in the game.* Or in the case of Steem, earn some skin and keep it in the game instead of selling that skin to buy a bottle of 10-Steem coke.

But, this still doesn't answer my question about why Steem is so sticky for me to write upon. Perhaps the answer lays more in the way I feel on Steem than what I think about Steem. I don't put a lot of value in passing emotions but I do see the value in emotional development, the "grows on you" value of long-term relationships. For most, they never really develop this because they either don't stick around long enough or, they don't have enough skin in the game that they are willing to work for.

In some way, Steem is part of my family now, as are the people of Steem, because our futures are intertwined and for many aligned for accomplishing life goals, economic sustainability and social endeavors. On Steem we are all collaborators toward the future position, even though we don't all help in the same way and quite a few might actually harm much more than they are of value. This is the way of the world and is becoming much more so the more people who participate.

I think this is what makes Steem so sticky for me, the life value it both delivers in the present moment and the potential possibilities of the future. Being part of it means to be an influence in the development of it, and those who are happy with the past are like parents who don't want their children to ever learn to walk, run and jump. Steem is expanding and growing at a rate that will be impressive in hindsight but seems to drag along now - like a night awake with a sick child.

One day though, that kid grows up, gets educated, leaves home and while the parents might remember the child who would fall over, get sick, whine and need its nappy changed way too often, *they still miss the baby,* because of all the cute stuff too - yet they are proud of the mature and responsible adult they have become. Coddled and spoiled children rarely become happy, healthy and independent adults - they become reliant on others. Not always economically - often emotionally. Steem is just a toddler yet, people are missing the baby and are ignorant to the adult that will develop.

Maybe that is the stickiest part of Steem, being part of something in the present that will have effects on the future. It is an investment that goes across time and space and attaches itself at the core of who we are through our content, our art, our hearts in various ways. Maybe those who only complain and beat the child, are just heartless?

Who knows.

What I think though is that if someone is unable to find a connector to attach themselves to Steem in a way that somehow empowers them, maybe they aren't meant to be here - at least at this time. Maybe later when the applications are polished and the crowds are in - they will find a place for themselves. Others will build the ecosystems, the applications and invest themselves while many will be happy to just be users. Users are called that for a reason right? They *use* other people's creations.

Then, this might be the stickiest point of Steem for me.

## *I get to create.*
&nbsp;
> *I am unmotivated. I procrastinate. I am lazy.*

Not when I am creating a piece of the world.

You finally said it Taraz "I get to create!". That's what does it for me, it's the self-expression and a platform on which to plaster it *exactly* how and when I want. I've never really had this before and my self-expression (in terms of creative output) was rather bitsy. Here I feel empowered, and neither the reactions of others to this self-expression (largely +ve I have to say :) nor the price of Steem really makes much difference. Having said that, I agree with the sentiment you express about abundance and the soon-approaching period of crypto-rising and old-paradigm falling (which it kinda is already).

Steem has become a passion to you and a core group of users here. All of us can see your passion in your posts and it is as rewarding to read them as it is for you writing them. We see what is possible down the road and it is exciting. Others will see it over time and it maybe too late by then.

It is the passion for Steem that holds the heart. Our beliefs about steem are definitely not the norm. I'm not going to leave unless I KNOW that it's over... probably. Lol

The fall in the price of steem helped the steem blockchain weed out those who never really saw a future here.

Let's not deny the fact that the money and easy cash out on posts was worth the stress at the time, BUT if in all that "up-time" you never built lasting relationships with those that interacted with you whilst in the community then "Shame on You".

So for what it's worth, seeing your notifications every night and day when you post is sort of a good steem adrenaline that inspires me to stay on the blockchain as well as the few friends I've made on this beautiful platform.

I can't remember when last I used my blogspot account, I rather use steemit and share my posts to my readers, even when I know they cannot really can't give direct feedback.

Steem is really a game changer for me.

I don't tend to talk about my stocks too much as most are in loss positions, but they still give me half-yearly dividends.

STEEM also gives daily dividends if you want to take them.

I am concerned at the moment about the big 10 going up and STEEM slipping to (60) today. I'm sure you know what I mean.

>I don't tend to talk about my stocks too much as most are in loss positions, but they still give me half-yearly dividends.

I think that even in gain position (unless already cashed out) people don't talk much about their holdings. I think it also has a social competitive component to it as well as economic. My hope is that with more economic transparency, a great amount of people build the literacy needed to benefit.

They go up to a certain point and then drain into wider alts later. Hopefully one day Steem is in that going up group but with the added incentive that holding SP has for Steem.
