You actually make a point it could change their minds,  but this will make of people engaged in more criminal activities since they know , they will get out of it through rehabilitation.  I can not support the move and I believe majority will kick again it either. 

Acting justly will make the world a better place for all of us without much thinking.  A crime free society will always move forward but I don't think that could ever happen in the surface of the earth.  I'm Just nervous what you opinion would be on this issues you mentioned?

The truth is that these issues always attract, we all hate the murderers and the sick, but we know the history and we follow the events of their crimes ... So we all need a chip, to control what harms society, to eliminate so many drugs and why not even love problems. It would be wonderful, would not it?

Hi Taraz. A chip implanted in my brain to control ones way of thinking. I don't think so. The generations in the future maybe as the generations are becoming more gullible. Governments would love to distribute them to control the masses. would be a warped and twisted world. The world is robotic enough already.

I think it is quite probable that for the future something similar to this chip will reach the prisoners or psychopaths. and that would be very good for society in general as violence and insecurity will decrease. The problem I see when these chips arrive in society trying to perfect the whole world, where you can not be free to do what you put on, but you must follow a strict pattern. I think we would be like a robot and we would stop enjoying life as we have until now. If this were the case, there would be no junk foods, no smoking, no hobbies that affect the environment. It seems that it is a technological proposal taken from a movie, although if it happened, in the future we can detect such diseases and sick people and be able to control ourselves, because a better world is needed. less violence and more love.

We discussed that idea over a decade ago with friends on blogspot. A friend of mine dubbed such a device <i>moralator</i>. There would be two kinds of moralators: intelligent and non-intelligent ones. The intelligent ones would have some degree of context awareness but the non-intelligent ones would only dampen certain kinds of emotional responses.

That is some Black Mirror episode scenario you are thinking there and also reminded me of a character in the Light of Better days book where a chip is implanted on a person that drove a person to become someone who was motivated to succeed but suppressed his motivation to love and connect with people.

I suffer from depression and a sweet tooth too hahaa andni she to laugh at what you pointed out that sometimes it has a mind of its own. 
Anyway wouldn't it be wonderful if we could at a flip of a switch or use a program alter our mental state.

Going to criminals if this was to be done would I support the technology? 
Technology I believe has never been inherently evil. It is the people behind it and use it that dictate whether something can be evil or be used for good.
If such a tech could be used I would say that it needs to be the choice of the person. Freedom will be the last thing that we should have and if we are to dictate our morals and beliefs to someone we are basically removing options and freewill. 
If government or entities are free without repurcussions able to tinker with our minds it is a scary thing.
I don't know what kind of protocol must be set up in order that no one man or entity will have that kind of power over us. It should only be usbwho ultimately decides.

As we are already victim to a great deal of manipulation in many forms I would rather there be a careful vetting done at a young age as to not mess with people that may not have tendencies that negatively impact society.

Maybe children with learning abilities could be assisted and as with the violent psychopaths, we could tune them down a notch or two three.

I don't really like the idea of messing with the mind, but do think there could be some applications. Would there be an APP, hahahaha

What would I change in myself? I would tweek my attention span as being a hyperactive grown man I think irritates some people, but hell I get a lot done in one day and I surely would use it to prolong my concentration span.

Sure there are pros and cons to this mental hacking. But I do not think I will consent to it. People value freedom, free will and power. Not having control of the way I think is scary. Now on the other hand, if I have a mental problem and a chip be embedded on my brain. The first thing I want to change/adjust is erase the thought/memory that causes my mental problem and help me build coping skills.

It turns out that you can have the gene (MAOA) but not exhibit the psychotic behavior if you’re not exposed to childhood maltreatment during a very specific time of brain development. That implies that psychopathy can be minimized and maybe even treated if the markers are identified early enough.

The very thought of having an implant to control my thinking is abhorrent.

Someone, somewhere will make the decision about what and how I will be modified, and it may work perfectly,  making me a model citizen.

Someone, somewhere else will see the possibility for making other, more nefarious changes to modify society to their mold. The new implant will be promised to do all sorts of good things for you that everyone accepts happily. And then the other algos kick in and the new human sheep will love their new rulers and their new society and everyone else forever.
