I got a call from my neurologist today (it is weird I have a neurologist still) checking in to see how I am doing and let me know of next steps. Since everything is going as expected and relatively well, with the pain and symptoms I am experiencing considered normal, the next step for is the control MRI scan at the end of the year. However, he is now going to refer me to a neuro psychologist, as I again voiced my concerns about my processing abilities and my fears for how it is going to affect my work. ![OI000074.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tarazkp/244Ujgi1WXzoB5f3rqt9MzzMa38zoYrqvoutdxGDgJNtAzVHJtfg56Rs8mCW7J62K95yt.jpg) I have two jobs, one as an employee and one where I am self-employed, with both leaning heavily on my ability to think clearly, quickly and be able to problem solve across varied business domains. Take my ability to think on my feet away, and there is very little left to employee. ![OI000071.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tarazkp/23wqeQvNtCowfvP24cwyvpCE1RetCvAUJr4TnfDC8N69GWNg4GjhkyG6dThLFDJt3vPt8.jpg) We all have our areas where we are the most competent and utilizing them well to create revenue streams that can provide for us is part of the game. Using them in ways that we actually enjoy is playing the game artfully. A lot of people want a job they love, yet do not consider their skillset and what it is capable of providing of value to the marketplace, making it hard to find that loved job. ![OI000077.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tarazkp/23xKtQu7YaLPsjdspFkERJyaVWGLtZbYjF2WMeCFmBtWXS1PCXTJ3q5yTgTQGJCuVhb4q.jpg) It seems a lot of people fantasize about getting paid to do something that they are not necessarily very good at, like an author, even though they have never sat themselves down to see if they can seriously write well enough. Wanting to do something and *being able* to do something are two very different things. ![OI000086.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tarazkp/23tSMvayMiAMUxcfK8mu9iXRWvwXkR3PWDn16dwSvK4vSYx6Mb6oFAfoFUmaHxg2fuowa.jpg) It would be great if we all were able to do the things we love in life, especially if they are the things we are also good at, but the fact of the matter is, it is very rare to have the opportunities drop in our laps. In my own experience, the people who are able to do what they love have nearly always had to work their asses off and do a lot of things that they *didn't love* first, or simultaneously. ![OI000087.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tarazkp/23tSL8yvLyCVAfixGNgVHRQGFcYxTZqqfxoXPSiRZtpGwZw7DE8hDpebVHnFMjGDT5ZBW.jpg) For example, one of my friends was a professional hockey player and played near daily from the age of five to his retirement in his early forties. Every day. From a young age, there was more than just hitting a puck around, it was gym work, strategy work, fitness work, stretching work, charity work... A lot of work. People wanted his salary and the glory of being on the ice as lead scorer for his team, but they definitely didn't want to do the 90% of what he *had to do,* so he could play the 10% of what he *loved to do.* ![OI000076.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tarazkp/23tvYCX5HXjNe4i4RkJAYAJ7LqWByPTkuWU82wTh65d6gM2oiXWi9YEjR6vps4xf4hHHP.jpg) Today, someone asked if it was possible to have multiple revenue streams from the same core business and of course it is. Many businesses do this already in many ways with their core competencies, but also use secondary potentials for more income. ![OI000078.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tarazkp/23u615iGdNyPgXEhMG7y6F6ZpoXGtRZid2Sxfy1oGTAPqeR9AVENYHzWcpyNEsac2fMdZ.jpg) I see Hive in this way now, where we are able to earn HIVE in many ways, as well as extend that out to other tokens and NFTs if we choose. The more investment we put into the ecosystem, the more potential we have to draw value toward us and, if we extend laterally as well, we can have multiple incoming streams. ![OI000085.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tarazkp/23tbkfMFvcXttp2ciGLeZwGbV81diUm5rm1vgGdTRtXqTSHEphACmZ24uPy7bJVakiFP5.jpg) For example, I have a fair bit of HIVE and that allows me to earn on curation without doing much at all, other than consuming content I choose and clicking some buttons. However, my core competence and actually what led me to having that stake is through my writing and engagement on Hive, which I *love doing* so much that I don't plan on ever stopping. This at least for now, earns me more HIVE and it also keeps me engaged with the community in many ways too, which adds more value streams, with things like LEO, Splinterlands and all the other projects that arise. ![OI000081.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tarazkp/23u5va4JJQoeJMTcGbMXdwswA4dhXjhuYNs1XEb9RMnm2xnoRtkQcVRXJSFhbvUYYePDG.jpg) For me, holding HIVE as stake is a risk, but it is also not quite holding in the traditional sense, as it is not only active like it would be in a DeFi pool, but also socially active as well, being able to push and pull value streams in many directions. Used well, it can bring in a range of values that aren't possible otherwise. It is very much like a skill being utilized for several jobs, like I do with my employed work and my self-employed work. The tasks I perform are quite different, the skills I use overlap heavily. ![OI000079.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tarazkp/23vsGCxzbThhnqSFLSSutCyp7sMj1Y9ehc8KeKxWSf2Q1DnCiBtH7NhPZtAyrzj9zXKjR.jpg) Finding something we are both good at and enjoy can be quite hard, as getting good at something usually takes a lot of resource investment, but investing is no guarantee of enjoyment. Of course, generally we invest ourselves into what we like, so there is more alignment in that regard, but there is no guarantee that what we like and are good at is going to be seen as valuable in the marketplace - which is why there aren't likely many millionaire yo-yo spinners. Often, what has value in the market has so, because there is scarcity and need for the skill, meaning that the skill is likely hard to get and takes investment or a certain kind of person that is rare. If everyone could do it and it was fun to do, everyone would do it, meaning that there is no market scarcity and there is an endless supply of people willing to fill the job. The jobs that are the hardest to fill are the ones that require multiple skills that aren't necessarily often held by one person. For example, high technical and social skills. While many hold one of these, far fewer hold both, putting a premium on the position. But, working out what we are good at and like, as well as what we are able to offer the market in order to generate an income is our responsibility, not something that just gets handed to us. If it was just handed to us, it would be more like the dystopia of *A Brave New World,* where while people are assigned jobs that they may excel in, the *system* doesn't care for their well-being, past keeping them productive. *I don't think anyone wants to be assigned a job based on their genetics.* >Yet we are. While I have worked very hard to have the skills I have, my propensity to hold them is not my own, with the majority of it coming down to me genetic predisposition that I have no control over. However, like wanting to and being able to are two different things, so to are having a predisposition and reaching the potential that the predisposition allows. Finding what we have the potential to do and making the decisions on which directions we take are not always easy tasks and rarely come with ideal conditions, but it is still up to us to discover who we are and work out, just what kinds of value streams we can add to this world we inhabit. >Most of us spend our time working out how to best extract, and then wonder why we don't feel fulfilled by the work we do. Taraz [ Gen1: Hive ] Oh, and the pictures. It was raining this evening and I took these shots of the water running out of the downpipes. It was getting dark and I didn't want to use a flash, instead bumping the ISO speeds up. They are taken on an Olympus EM-1 MIII, using a 60mm 2.8 macro lens. We must have the self-motivation to reach our full potential and develop the skill sets. Otherwise we are delusionary if we think we can have that dream job. But what is a job. I would rather have a career. Most all jobs are a means to the end goal of having the resources and money. Yet, a career offers a certain gratification that money cannot buy and is a far better animal than a mere job.

>Most all jobs are a means to the end goal of having the resources and money. Yet, a career offers a certain gratification that money cannot buy and is a far better animal than a mere job. It is semantics, but you are right, most people see a job 8includin me) as for money. I prefer the term "work" as it can be used for things that don't bring an income too. I think much of what is needed for a career, is *work* that builds the foundation to have one.

The photos are fabulous, mesmerizing, thanks for telling us about them. Your brain seems to be firing well in your posts, they are still great reads. Could your brain fog be distraction? You have been through quite a trauma, which brought with it fears for the future - I remember your talking about this.

>Could your brain fog be distraction? I think partly, but maybe not from the trauma. My ability to maintain attention and focus on anything for more than a short amount of time is difficult and wearing on me. I get tired easily from it. I think that once I am at work again and getting into a more formal routine, it will improve. At home, there is no reason to have much structure in my day and I can do what I please, meaning I don't have to force the focus at all.

> This **at least for now**, earns me more HIVEโฆ FWIW, I think that a lot of people here are seriously underestimating how difficult it will be in the future. Iโve seen posts where people seem to think that Hive going 10x or 30x means that theyโll be earning 10x or 30x what theyโre now earning from posting. >That may well be true for curation earnings, but is very unlikely for posting earnings. As I ha maintain, the best time to earn on Hive is when prices are down, just like it is to buy. People do not seem to understand how much competition can arrive here and those who earn easily now, are generally the first to claim "it isn't fair" later.

Oddly, my mind allowed me to believe the images were of liquid gold, maybe some kind of old jewelry melting pot or suchlike, weird how perspective is reinforced by what the mind's eye believes it is seeing, either way, the effect is very cool, I'm unsure of the protocol for a guy my age to be using the word cool, I'm certain it is frowned upon lol. Firstly, being familiar with your writing, I get why you would be so hesitant to blindly accept a suggested direction, without fully understanding the effect on your processing abilities. It is apparent that this is a huge part of who you are. I enjoy many of your posts due to the apparent mental agility that takes place between the opening and closing lines, sometimes you even play devil's advocate with the initial point you support rather than digging in your heels and holding on for dear life as so many do. I was gonna weigh in with advice on how to approach that particular decision, but now I think about it, how can I? #### Sometimes we write about incredibly similar themes but there is something I find in your writing that is often absent from mine and I kinda need to see it from time to time. It's a cold light of day pragmatism that prompts me to ask myself if I'm really doing all I can in the areas I say I am. This post made me question all the posts in which I bitch about my job. Maybe I have what I deserve, what I have earned... Closing thought (I swear to god it is!) You mentioned brave new world, Huxley kind of invented the sorting hat before J.K. Rowling, literally dividing people at source to where the system deemed them to fit. You're right, that is the life of most people! I wrote something in a comment earlier than was prophetic of reading your post I think. It was to a lovely guy I met at a meetup. >You've met me, I am certain that it was apparent that I am from a council estate lol, I sometimes think the system believes working-class people from deprived areas should stay where they are and not mess with the status quo and try and step out of the norm and do something other than low paid manufacturing jobs like I do. Clumsily worded, it's been a long day. Ya get the point though, it was about having aspirations and being defined by something as erroneous as class, poverty, or geographic location. Huxley nailed it, right? Sorry Taraz, my streams of consciousness go awry at times. I wish you the very best possible outcome with the NP. I heard a brilliant Aussie expression on Hive a while back... She'll be apples mate. Take good care of you and yours man, have a great week ๐

>I'm unsure of the protocol for a guy my age to be using the word cool, I'm certain it is frowned upon lol. I use it all the time with my daughter and now she uses it - and it sounds weird :D >I was gonna weigh in with advice on how to approach that particular decision, but now I think about it, how can I? I can't either - it isn't easy, but I guess I better. >Sometimes we write about incredibly similar themes but there is something I find in your writing that is often absent from mine and I kinda need to see it from time to time. It is hard to say. You know when there are those "critically acclaimed" movies/books etc, then you watch or rad and find that there is nothing in it for you? It is about preference. One thing that I have always done in my writing is put myself into it and even in my fiction work, I am authentic, if that makes sense. What this means for each person is different, but I end up just writing and posting on the fly, with little thought to form or whether it is precisely what the audience wants. I *think* that because of this, people find something in there for them, like a movie from your home town. >his post made me question all the posts in which I bitch about my job. Maybe I have what I deserve, what I have earned... Jobs are funny things. We need them, but most of them are essentially useless to the survival of us or humanity, past what we have engineered them to provide, money. I have done many things I dislike for work in order to get money and I am okay with it, as long as I am able to do enough of what I do like, enjoy and am good at. Often these days, people use their leisure time to avoid their work time, rather than their work time to empower their leisure time. >Ya get the point though, it was about having aspirations and being defined by something as erroneous as class, poverty, or geographic location. Huxley nailed it, right? We are all typecast based on the opinions of others. A lot of people try to "prove them wrong", but I have taken the approach that I have nothing to prove to others, they can think as they please. However, for me to find my potential, I have to prove it exists. If I prove it exists and they still typecast, they are denying themselves the truth knowingly - that is on them, as opinions always are. It is apple season here ;)

The pictures alone would make up for a great post! On topic: >the people who are able to do what they love have nearly always had to work their asses off and do a lot of things that they didn't love first, or simultaneously. That's very true. When we see someone being successful at something they truly love, we don't usually see past that but there is, in most cases, a lot of hard work and a lot of time doing things that had nothing to do with that "dream job" the person now has Posted Using [LeoFinance Beta](https://leofinance.io/@tfranzini/re-tarazkp-2knzg2)

I just wrote a similar comment on another post saying this is why I got into crypto. It is about getting that financial freedom so you can work on what you want to do instead of what you have to do. If that comes from making a lot of money to invest or having streams of revenue the result is the same. Posted Using [LeoFinance Beta](https://leofinance.io/@whatageek/re-tarazkp-5mhg73)

I wonder what rings more life contentment - lumpsum and never work again, or working for a decent continual stream.

@tarazkp one thing is sure every user who are using hive activly he loved to do this, otherwise it's not possible to stay active and motivated I just want to know which is most rewarding activity on hive as you mentioned in your article you are doing both Are you getting most of rewards from you posts or comments, I mean which type of engagement is best comminting or posting, you may said both but I want to know this because some time a user not have enough resource credit for posting and commenting as you know these two activities consume most resource credits, that's why I want to know which option is best with limited resource credits commenting on other posts to become a part of the conversation or posting new posts and content? And you said holding hive is risky please explain it little bit for us thanks @zaibkang

>I just want to know which is most rewarding activity on hive as you mentioned in your article you are doing both It depends on what you consider rewarding. Firstly, work out what you are good at and then work out how it can be used on Hive. Some people write, some people develop, some people play games etc. Generally, focusing on rewards first will lead you to doing things you might not enjoy that much and if you don't like what you do, you might not do it well or for very long. Holding Hive, Bitcoin, Ethereum or any investment is risky. Everything carries some risk, it is about learning to deal with risk that is important.
