Summer Reflection #22: Poor Format

Today, my wife got a sense of some of my frustrations at times, as she realized that service "could be better" in some regards. We were looking to have some photos printed at 40 x50 cm, to fit into some frames that we have, and I asked her to source a place, which she did. Because she wanted them soon, we drove to one of the two "photos in a an hour" places in the city, which both happened to be on the other side of the town for us, only to find that it was closed. Not " closed" for the day, but it *hadn't even opened yet.*

*So why is it listed as open on your website....*

The woman said she would still be open for another hour, so we headed over there, *only to find out* that this location doesn't print in that size at all,  but she can have it ordered from the one place that does *on the other side of the country.

*So why is it listed on your website if not all the locations can print it?*

My wife and I have been trying to use more local services where we can, but it seems that more often than not, we would just be better doing it all online. But, I don't get why these companies are opening new physical locations, when their organization and service is pushing people toward online options. And once we go online and have to wait a week for it anyway, it is just as easy to order it from other non-local companies that will deliver it in about the same amount of time.

What I was glad to see was that my wife was not willing to wait the week with this company, based on the experience. Normally Finns will not say anything, and will vote with their feet, but she actually gave some feedback. Perhaps I am rubbing off on her after all these years. 

However, I did my own searching and found another local company in the city that can apparently print the sizes we are after, so we will go there on Monday before getting it from one of the numerous online printing services for *cheaper.* 

Other than that, we had a *Very rainy* and uneventful vacation day. Though as I have been telling her, my wife is realizing that we have an opportunity to clear a lot of the little tasks that have been building up, and as I have been stressing, we are running out of time to get them all done before we head back to work.

I can only imagine how disappointed you were with the two companies.  What they did, to me, smells grossly of incompetence. But that's the beauty of a capitalist system, there are always other options. It's good you found another company that can do the printing.

Sorry you had to deal with that. I often get frustrated when I have to run to several places as well. It's ridiculous these days that any information about your business online should be out of date or inaccurate.

I was a little grumpy from the hassle, but I just stayed quiet and we went and had a piece of cake and a coffee instead :)

That is why I usually try to call and ask the place first before actually going. Because of online options, a lot of local and physical stores can have something missing, get it from another store, or outsource it. It is unfortunate but they need to do this to keep costs low. I'm glad you were able to find one that does it.

I think the mistake those people made is that they don’t update their profile. If she knows that she doesn’t open at a particular time, she should at least update it on her profile and also the one that put the wrong location
