Oh yeah, removing stumps is so much fun. Not. We transplanted a 10 year old Cedrón-Bush at the school (for no good reason, as we found out in the end, but that's another story), it was quite the job between 4 people. 

If the tree is already dead, there are other ways though. There are some things that accelerate degradation, and I think there's a special way to burn them to make it easier. 

Impressive that you made it through. 7h is a loooooong time. But I get the feeling that it provokes. I really have to get back to gardening. That compost definitely needs to be sifted. Hope your soreness goes away, soon!

Well done!  We have a stump that has been in our back yard since we moved in.  I keep thinking I should do something about it, but I never really have the time or ambition. They were supposed to grind it when they took down our other tree, but they apparently forgot and it still sits there.  You may have inspired me to actually do something about it now!

I have the utmost respect for your positive attitude and determination. A job like this not only requires physical strength, but also a steely mentality.

The best thing about it is the satisfaction I felt afterwards.

But that wood looks kinda cool. Are you going to throw it out/ burn it or do something else with it? I am not sure what you could make out of it maybe a flowerpot or a lamp? But I think that after already spending so much time and effort getting this thing it would be a bit of shame to throw it out. But then again these are just random ideas. Turning them into reality would probably be harder than saying them.😛

I want to buy a chair but I decided to build it by myself, and I did broke my back pain and the result is I have a piece of wood in my house around the table and my family said me hey the chair are more comfortable than your pieces of wood.

I felt the same way as you did removing a hunk of grass in order to establish my small garden at my new house. Its given me back about 6KG of chilli, so I see it as very much worth it at this point. 

Take a soak in a bath, always makes me feel better after physical labour or a workout. 

The hard part is getting back out afterwards.

I absolutely feel your pain, and sense of achievement. I dug one out many years ago, dig round, chop some roots, try to pull, repeat. After two solid days, I was about to give up, couldn't see any more roots that were holding it in other than the tap root so threw a chain around and pulled it out with the car!

The space it saved was great, but that feeling of victory as I danced around the garden, priceless!

Been there and done that! Except I gave up and called a stump removal person. No tenacity here, I give up when I start cussing. 

Would help mostly because I know it’s a pain in the system 😝 and also told off my aunty for removing one on her own instead of waiting for me to come help like I’d told her to. Fortunately she did not injure or drop it on herself (she grossly underestimated how heavy this particular root ball was, it didn’t look that bad).

I have taken out quite a few tree stumps and trees in my life. Not an easy task and not my favorite part of landscaping / gardening. 

15k steps to take out a stump is quite surprising actually, I guess I never counted steps during the time I was taking out trees. And for clarification I did plant a lot more trees than I took out by a ratio 10 to one at least. 

I'm waiting for a smaller stump to dry out so I can drill into it and set it on fire. I watched a YouTube video of somebody doing this. It's generally not recommended for larger trees as the root fire can travel to other trees. In my case, it's an isolated invasive species that I don't want coming back. 

I remember pulling stumps with my father in west Texas where the soil is rocky. They wouldn't give, even using the pickup truck to pull on them. Later I learned you can use a large wheel and winch to pull them almost straight up. I haven't tried that yet. 

Whoop! That's me whooping and hollering at your success!   That feeling of accomplishment is addictive lol.    When your garden is put together and you all are sitting outside you will remember how difficult it was  to get the stump out and how you whipped it's ass!

Hmm, this is huge, i must say. This is a kind of hard, gritty work that reminds me of a time o had to construct the pen for my goats and also the rabbit. I had to go scan through my vicinity for a tree that can do quite the same job as buying outside. It wasn't an easy task, but I had to do it to safe costs. I brought the tree down and cut it into a piece with the help of a neighbour around, then proceeded to pen construction. 

You are very persistent, now it is visible not only from your daily posts in Hive. I have a couple of small stumps from old apple trees in my garden, I will probably plant flowers around them and in a couple of years these stumps will rot.

We use it as kinda chair at some corner of the yard/garden, particularly under a tree, thus I wouldn't take it out :)
