Let's forget about fame - being authentic with your people? That's what stays, not the applause. In the midst of all this noise, true integrity still comes to those who understand it. Courage is our compass, yes, but all that outside interference tries to divert us, you know? We keep trying to be airtight to keep surviving.

I truly hope Volodymyr Zelenskyy is remembered for being a hero and deadset legend. Bold of you to think there will be people 1000 years from now. I'm not confident we'll still be around in 30.

That's actually a pretty thought provoking question. It's really quite few the folks from that long ago that we still remember today. With the storage of data and accessibility now, it will be interesting to see how much that changes. As for heroes, I don't know if I have one because I have learned over time everyone is flawed, so while I see admirable traits in individuals, I know there is always more to it.

I would say the person of our time who will be remembered and who I would like to be more like.. is Elon Musk. He is super smart and a real visionary! 😉😎👊

People are often overwhelmed and confused in this information age — easily losing themselves if they don't have a strong moral foundation. They can either leave a legacy behind or a trail of trauma. 

This theme is powerfully portrayed in the film 'The Emperor's Club, starring Kevin Kline as William HUndert , a professor at an elite boy's boarding school.

Hundert stands firm with his values and become disappointed upon learning that one of his star students, Sedwick Bell (played by Emile Hirsch) cheats during a prestigious school competition.Years later, at a class reunion,Bell— now a senator — repeats the same dishonest behavior in the rematch of that very competition.

Professor Hunderts confronts him , but Bell dismisses his ideals  ad belittled him, pointing out that while Hunderts— who remained grounded with his principle remained a teacher , while he had risen to power. Unfortunately,upon hearing their private conversation,  Bell's young son was disheartened by his father's words and actions.

This film underscores that leaving a legacy behind has more weight , especially if it has an impact to the next generation. 

I truly believe that any who chooses to live by their principles and inspire others is already a hero. Just my two cents. 

This is a tough and a sad one. We really don't have the "hero" figures in the year we live in that we did 10 or 15 years ago. The Superhero movies these days are some woke fucking garbage with a bunch of bull-dyke women or soy-cuck men instead of the ones a few decades ago like the *first* Incredible Hulk and some of those other ones. Hell even Bond was a classic hero for many people in the world.

These days, I find it hard to figure out who to look up to, and I think that is likely intentional. It could also be a product of the vast breadth of exposure to information that we have today. Who a hero is today, could be a villain tomorrow. I think some people that I look up to are the ones who are trying to make really small big critical changes to our technology. 

Glenn Meder from Privacy Action Network is a great one who stands on his principles and puts his money where his mouth is.

Hakeem Anwar from Above Phone is also another great example, someone creating technology that helps us break free from the digital panopticon.

The two founder dudes that I can't recall their names exactly but from Daylight Computer are also fantastic people to look up to for inspiration as to how to fight back against a brutal and corrupt system.

Dr Alexis Cowan is a brilliant biologist exposing the truth about blue-light poisoning and the destructive effects of non-native EMF on our bodies.

I think the important thing is that we find causes that we believe in strongly, for me it is privacy and technological health and these are really great examples of pushing that forward.

Maybe we won’t be remembered two thousand years from now but if we inspire just one person to do good, stand up against injustice or plant a noble idea in a child’s mind maybe that alone is enough.

I thought that my dad had knew many people and was able to speak with them on various topics. He also followed many things happening around the world. I basically only know about a few major wars happening in the world.

Another Hero for me was Kentaro Miura- he created Berserk manga(my favorite fantasy story of all time). I still think that it is a tragedy to art as a whole that he died before he could finish Berserk. But for me everything about Berserk is just perfect-art, characters and story. It inspired some of my paintings and I even started making my own manga mostly because I loved Berserk so much.

Great question and topic. I know it is semantics but I truly believe we are surrounded by heroes. But I use the definition made famous by Romain Rolland "A Hero is a person who does what they can." or Maya Angelou "A hero is a person intent on making this a better place for all people". I think there are many people who do that every day. What I thought of when you asked the question is "legend". I think there are legends. Off the top of my head I'll take Malala Yousafzai. And of course Todd Beamer, Mark Bingham, Tom Burnett, and Jeremy Glick, who were the guys that killed the terrorists on flight 93 on 911. Then there all of the teachers and school staff who saved kids during school shootings. Plus there are all the young people around the world who are standing up to dictators. And the young people who risk their lives every day just to get educated.

Funny enough I've thought about this exact thing this year, like, who from our generation will actually matter in 100 years? Definitely not Trump. Everyone's so obsessed with influencers and billionaires but are they actually contributing anything meaningful, not much to be done in distraction or wrong directions, or the wrong heroes

I had an unexpected hero in my life. My Grandmother, on my father's side, spent her days looking out for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was active in church, often going to migrant worker camps to teach doctrine for First Communion. She visited the sick. And she loved going out to dances and other social gatherings. 

At her funeral, the entire church was filled, not a small church. Of course friends and family attended. But many people flew or drove in from afar to attend her funeral, people who she visited in the community throughout her lifetime. In her own way, she made a difference in the lives of many. She was just being a good friend. She wasn't a celebrity, a politician, or the type to join social movements. She was far from a saint. And our family is far from being outstanding citizens. Yet she managed to earn the respect of hundreds of people who were saddened by her loss. 

Other than an obituary in the newspaper, I don't expect that she ever made the news. 

You may have a hero in your life you don't expect. 

I felt this article really strongly. Although I haven't fully articulated my thoughts, I do agree with you. Brilliance likely still exists, but it is currently more difficult to observe. Your final statement resonates deeply, and maybe it's more about making a lasting impact than seeking recognition.
