Even I didn't consider the importance of moving to this level.

We cover the importance of decentralized data in great detail.  The future is based, in large part, ton its accessibility.  If Big Tech controls the overwhelming majority, at least what is available to the public, then we are under their dominion.  

By decentralizing, and making it open to all, we have the ability to counteract this.

Then we have to consider space.  We are looking at a future where data centers will be on the moon.  Perhaps, there will be a day when Mars will also have this.  The challenge here is latency.  It is a few second delay from the moon; a few minutes from Mars.

As always, what we are doing fits into a larger picture of advancement.

# Decentralized Data in Space: Filecoin and Lockheed Team Up

Each technological challenge ultimately becomes a piece in a puzzle that is being constructed.  Over time, this forges the advancement of humanity.

AI is a central theme to the next major step in our progress.  In addition to compute (which basically means energy), data is one of the vital components.  The accumulation of this is crucial.  Equally as important is the ability to transmit and receive it in a timely manner.

"Space data" needs to focus upon this.  Having data centers in space is not useful if the lag is minutes.  This is where this test case might have potential.

This is the essence of what is being used.  Many are familiar with IPFS.  Now, we can see how this could evolve into inter-planetary.

Filecoin is an old name in the crypto space.  It exemplifies the need for building.  With the overwhelming focus on "price go up", here is what happens when a team concentrates on building.  It is Business 101.

Attracting the likes of Lockheed Martin is impressive.  This is path that is going to involve millions of dollars in early term costs.  If it shows potential, that will quickly turn into billions.

A payoff could be in order.  The is a target market for decentralized storage on top of latency reduction.  Evidently, media companies might be better served with their enormous libraries of data spread all over the world (eventually galaxy?)

## The Lesson For All Of Us

The majority of the population lacks vision.  We simply are not conditioned to think in these terms.  While it might be naturally part of the human condition, society stamps it out of us.  Of course, it is hard to be a "dreamer" when one is focused on simply getting through the week.

What this brings about is our inability to see anything unless it materialized.  Looking into the future is difficult enough, something further burdened when operating under this programming.

Then we have the need for instant gratification.  The time we are willing to wait for breakthrough, life altering things is typically measured in hours.

Building something takes time.  Even in the business world, the mindset is usually in 90 day increments.  The stock market fascination further conditioned us to think simply in the short term.

Being able to see the vision of how things are unfolding is an art.  This is something that requires effort.  That said, as the skills grow in this area, we see how some of the pieces fit together.  When this happens, the unbelievable begins to become clear.

Nothing operates in a vacuum in the digital world.  This is likely true in the physical yet it is much easier in this realm.  We can see how everything is connected.  Each node can be accessed by any other (with proper credentials).  It is what the Internet offered us.

Of course, data is siloed.  This is the basic structure of Web 2.0.  It is something that has to change for the sake of humanity.   Large portions of public data is "owned" by the platforms they were created upon. 

Filecoin was simply another interesting crypto project many years ago.  Of late, they have not been in the news.  I guess the price action was uninteresting.

Yet here we have them teaming up with one of the biggest names in military and commercial telecommunications.  Their goal appears to make data truly inter-planetary.
