Sometimes the most basic premise is overlooked.


There are a lot who complain about what they are getting on Hive.  Many opine how their content isn't rewarded and nobody looks at their stuff.  


It seems we entered the Twilight Zone.


Why do people feel that Hive is exempt from the laws of the rest of the universe?  For some reason the mentality is show up and millions of [votes](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-vote-hive) will follow.


This is complete insanity.


Here is the reality:


If you aren't getting rewarded, it is because you have not done enough.


Stop trying to shift the onus onto other people.

## Marketing 101


If you want to be noticed, do something that makes you seen.


We all know this.  Look at [social media](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-social-media), especially [Tik Tok](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-tiktok) and the insane things people are doing for attention.  While it seems the motivation is likes, i.e. validation, there is a lesson there.


The priority is to get eyeballs.  We are in the attention [economy](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-economy).  With Hive, there are both base and second layer rewards.  However, to garner that, one needs to be engaged.  If you are not in front of people, the solution is to do more.


For years I retorted to those complaining "go make 500 quality [comments](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-comment-hive) over the next week and then get back to me".  If one did that, he or she was certain to get on the radar of someone.


This is basic marketing.


Over the years, I not only co-hosted Cryptomaniacs but also did a number of other shows.  Right now the trendis on Spaces, where I host a weekly episode.  


All of this is done with the intention of keeping myself in front of people.  This is the rule for [Twitter](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-twitter), [Facebook](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-facebook), and [YouTube](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-youtube).  Hive is no different.


Marketing 101.


 ## Show Your Dedication To Hive


We have a few million [accounts](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-account) on Hive.  Do you know how many [monthly active users](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-monthly-active-users-mau) (MAUs) we have.?


Ten thousand maybe.


That means a lot showed up over the years and left.  Do you think this is what helps an [ecosystem](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-ecosystem-digital) move forward?


Naturally, this is par for the course.  All online systems eventually experience this.  However, if you want to stand out on Hive, or any facet of it, make sure you show your dedication.  It is easy to be a "fly-by-night" person, showing up once in a while.


If you are not making this a daily part of your life, that will be reflected in the results you get.


Dedication is another key.  Those who have it will do better than those who believe this is just another area to pass the time.  I stated for a long time, "treat your Hive account as a business".  If you own a [business](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-business), do you show up once in a while to make it succeed?  Obviously not.


## Are You Willing To Do What It Takes?


This is the central question that each person needs to answer.


Hive is a place of opportunities.  It is my opinion that very view are going to truly take advantage of it simply because that is how the world works.  Few consistently take the action required to succeed.  Instead, they fail to do it and then complain.  This is true within any organization.


Those that do are very few.  Most just sit around and complain about how the others are doing it.


Of course, we also have the issue that few are willing to take responsibility for their actions.  Ever notice how, with the majority of people, it is never their fault?  A guy was fired from 8 [jobs](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-job) yet it was always the fault of the bosses or companies.  The same goes true with relationships.  We see people get married or divorced 5 or 6 times, yet it was always the fault of the exes.


If you approach that with Hive, then you will get poor results.


Opportunity means not only going after it, but the willingness to take responsibility for the results.  There is a secret contained here.  If one does this, he or she is empowered.  When this happens, one can adapt.  We learn through the results we get, adjust our course, and take more action.


In other words, if something doesn't work, try something else.


Success in any venture is rarely a straight line.


The ball is in your court.  If you want to blame (fill in the blank), that is your right.  It was done tens of thousands of times before with the same results.  Those people are now part of the millions of accounts who are no longer a part of Hive.  To them, are they losing anything?  At this point, perhaps not.


However, there is the potential that, as things expand, we are going to see value being generated in many areas.  The decision made by so many might end up being very costly.

In the attention economy, monetary success comes from getting attention.  That is the currency that is required.

It is up to each individual to ensure that happens.  Hive is no different.
