We often discuss the idea of cryptocurrency being accepted by the mainstream?  When will the masses start to use cryptocurrency?

It is hard to pinpoint what is the leading cause of mass adoption of something.  However, perhaps the leader in the world of cryptocurrency will be the one threatened by it: Wall Street.

We already saw a number of deals that were in line with what is taking place.  Now, we are starting to see an expansion, to the tune of $260M.

Security tokens are the future and, it appears, the future is now.

A company called Inveniam Capital Partners (ICP) is putting together 4 projects that are going to be financed through tokenization.  This will total $260M for the four deals.

Using tokens in real estate is a way to change how things are financed.  It is starting to gain some steam.

One of the major drawbacks to real estate is the fact it lacks liquidity.  Non-liquid assets carry a premium to sell.  This is something we saw a few decades ago when buying and selling stocks carried high commissions.  Today, with the advent of the Internet, commissions on stock transactions are only a few dollars per trade.  At the same time, anyone with an account is able to enter this market.

In addition to the premium, selling is very slow.  Again, the world of stocks, transactions are done in an instant.  Selling a piece of property requires a lot of time and paperwork.  Tokenization will change all this.

For the time being, in the United States, this market is only accessible to those who are considered "accredited investors".  This is a way the SEC keeps the system closed by excluding the average investor.  Personally, this is a ruse in my opinion and one that will not last.  The fact that exchanges will end up decentralized means that there will come a day when deals like this are done where anyone can participate.

Fractional ownership of real estate is a tremendous opportunity to build wealth.  Few of us can afford to buy in major cities around the world.  Simply, they are too expensive for the average person.  Prime properties require millions of dollars in investments.  This keeps the market open to only a select few.

Tokens will allow people to purchase small stakes.  One will be able to buy a piece of a commercial building for only a few dollars.  Fractional ownership breaks the property down into "bite sized" tokens.

One interesting piece of the deals proposed by ICP is their minimum requirements are to have at least $10M in cryptocurrency.  While that makes it open to only those in an elite class, it is interesting to see the barometer be in crypto as opposed to fiat.  Usually, it is a certain level of dollars or euros required.  This could be something to watch as we move forward with more people having cryptocurrency.

This particular deal adds another layer to the puzzle by making the data transparent.  I often write about how we are looking at the innovation in the world of cryptocurrency and blockchain replacing what we already know.  It is the things that we have not thought of that really hold the potential.

One of the most fascinating things about the Steem ecosystem is that it is a potential on-ramp to this investing/economic sphere.  Having the ability to earn tokens means that people are now involved in an arena which they were previously excluded.  While the security token world is still out of reach to most all of us, we should see this change over time.

Part of the evolution will be fractional ownership assets.  This means that one will be able to invest even a few dollars or euros into these assets.  By earning tokens for activities on the Steem blockchain, there is the chance that they will be convertible into other investments if that route is desired.

Over time, I firmly believe the options available to anyone holding cryptocurrency are going to expand.  We are still very early in the process and there will be innovations we cannot even imagine at this point.  

I hope that many are starting to see how abundance is going to be available to most everyone.
