We are repeatedly told of how important being in the top 100 on Coingecko and similar sites. However, for those who went through the 1990s and the Internet craze, we realize that many projects did not survive.

In this video I discuss how we see a lot of similarities between cryptocurrency and the Internet craze. It bears remembering that most projects ended up as nothing since no development was done.

Summary:
Task discusses the phenomenon of the "great clearing out of cryptocurrency" in this video. He draws parallels to the early internet era, highlighting the rapid rise and fall of projects during that time and comparing it to the current cryptocurrency landscape. Task emphasizes the importance of focusing on development and long-term vision rather than short-term price fluctuations. He specifically discusses projects like Ethereum, EOS, and Hive, pointing out the need for sustained development and community involvement for success in the crypto space. Task emphasizes the significance of staying power and steady progress over flashy hype.

Detailed Article:
In the video, Task delves into the concept of the "great clearing out of cryptocurrency" by drawing on his experience with the early days of the internet revolution. He likens the current state of the cryptocurrency market to the dot-com era, pointing out the similarities in terms of hype, rapid project launches, and eventual failures. Task highlights the influx of money, projects, and innovation in the cryptocurrency space, noting the parallels to the excitement surrounding internet startups in the past.

Task emphasizes the importance of looking beyond short-term market trends and focusing on long-term development and sustainability. He mentions projects like Ethereum and EOS, illustrating how initial hype can quickly fade if not backed by substantial progress and adoption. Task discusses the evolution of DeFi on Ethereum as a positive example of a niche finding success within the larger cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Furthermore, Task shifts the discussion to projects like Hive, stressing the significance of community involvement, development progress, and long-term vision for the project's success. He mentions Block Trades' insights into Hive's future development, including upcoming hard forks to improve the blockchain's efficiency and potential integration of Smart Media Tokens (SMTs) and layer two solutions.

Task addresses the misconception that immediate price movements reflect a project's underlying value, highlighting the importance of sustained development efforts rather than short-term gains. He contrasts price-driven projects in the market with Hive's focus on continuous development and community building. Task challenges the audience to consider the staying power and long-term viability of projects in the crypto space, pointing to Hive as an example of a project that has already demonstrated longevity and continues to evolve.

In conclusion, Task urges viewers to prioritize development, community engagement, and long-term vision when evaluating cryptocurrency projects. He emphasizes the need to look beyond surface-level market fluctuations and instead focus on the foundational aspects that contribute to a project's success over time. By drawing parallels to past tech industry trends and emphasizing the importance of sustained growth, Task provides valuable insights for navigating the ever-changing cryptocurrency landscape.

There is little to no hype regarding Hive but it still persists near the 100th position on Coingecko. The token price is quite stable despite the inflation churning out more and more tokens at a rate of about 8% per year.

I think when the final parabolic price action starts on the crypto market as a whole, tokens like HIVE will be pushed MUCH higher than now. Even STEEM will be lifted by the next large parabolic move probably some time in late 2021 to early 2022.

What kills projects is bear markets. They run out of money and, most importantly, energy. I think it's only a good thing that there are so many new DeFi tokens ahead of HIVE on Coingecko. What we can determine from that is the presence of a lot of stupid money on the market. It's not a cause for great concern or even less a reason to do something incredibly stupid like doing a way with the global reward pool. Running out of money or willingness to develop the ecosystem are not pressing concerns for Hive right now. Those things are especially not problems because were looking at the early stages of another bull market right now.

P.S. When you hear talk about slashing the global reward pool from a consensus witness, you know it's time to review your witness votes.
