That is pretty awesome.  It is crazy to think that something which is so rare today could become quite commonplace in the future.  I agree with you, the logistics of mining and returning the elements to the Earth from asteroids would probably be quite cost prohibitive.  At least until more advancements are made in space technology.

I heard before that the supply of diamonds is manipulated and it is much higher. It's interesting how diamonds could power quantum computers, I personally think that jewelry is something banal unless there is a special meaning behind it. I have a golden ring that was given by me by my grandmother at my wedding and I use it with love.

I remember when I was a kid, I never believe that diamond exist. Most time I tend to get confused which one has more value between diamond and gold. Hard to pick one out

Whether or not asteroid mining can disrupt prices on Earth may not be so clear cut. Suppose building space colonies becomes a large industry. Surely, side streams of minerals dropped to the Earth can be made out of those mined in space. The gravity fields of the planets or the Sun can be used to decelerate the shipments to match the orbital velocities of the inner planets. 

Off topic, I think the song you linked below refers to LSD. Back the in the day, musicians and artists couldn't get enough of that stuff. :)

Interesting, but what keeps the ones that are already regulating the diamond market from just buying up all patents that enable someone to make diamonds instead of traditionally mining them. They might want to control the market prices even more that way in anticipation of the rise in value when computing will require diamonds.

Big companies will always find a way to do so in a capitalist system.
Unless we find a clever way or loophole to combat this, like blockchain vs centralized financial systems.

Yes. That might happen. But, there will be a massive push and pull effect until we have a clear winner. You are right in saying that we do not know how and when things will shape up differently to change the global economic and supply-chain order. I do believe that all these fancy stones will be be made in labs going forward. Either the value will go down or the couple of players in diamond industry will start to buy diamond from these labs and make sure the market is not open.🙂
