On the latest AMA, along with an [article](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-article) outling the plans for 2025, we were notified that the team is going to add [streaming](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-stream-service) capabilities to [threadcast](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-threadcast).


This is huge news (in addition to being a surprise).


When it comes to the world of [data](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-data), this is a major step forward.  It is also a potential epicenter for content.


The idea of making threadcasts as a pillar for [LEO](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-leo) is a sound on in my view.  This is something that can really enhance the ability to communication via [Web 3.0](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-web-3-0) while also enhancing the utility for Leo.

# Live Streaming Coming To Threadcasts


While details are scarce, what we are dealing with is something similar to restream.  Anyone who used this place knows it is a similar [feature](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-feature) to Zoom.  


One of the key components is the fact that the streams will be record.  This is vital for a couple of reasons.


To start, it allows people who missed the broadcast to go through the recording.  This is vital when dealing with [audiences](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-audience) that are spread throughout the world (and time zones).


The second advantage is the conten can be served up in different forms.  shorts could be made and posted.  The episode could be loaded onto other platforms.   This is what we see with the [Web 2.0](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-web-2-0) platforms.


A third benfit is the ability to transcribe the broadcast.  We know [YouTube](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-youtube) gets reams of data simply by having transcripts of the [videos](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-video) created.  In fact, we are using these to add data to Hive via @ai-summaries.es 


Our fourth factor is the fact that the streams will be on Leo [servers](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-server-computer).  This means the audio (when multi-modal is available) can be used to train LeoAI.  In other words, this is content that is exclusive to Leo.


## Building Twitch


It would seem that Leo is looking to parallel, to some degree, Twitch.  This is a streaming platform that is very popular with gamers.  It is also something that is at the top of the value change when it comes to [media](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-media): video.


Part of the appeal, in my opinion, is to build as much tied to Web 3.0 as possible.  The idea of decentralizing to a larger degree than the traditional platforms is crucial.  One thing this means is getting as much [on chain](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-on-chain) as possible.


For example, one feature might be to have all transcripts automatically posted to [Threads](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/loeglossary-threads).  This means we are democratizing the data for whatever is said on the broadcasts (streams).  While this is not the end all, it is simply another factor that pulls something away from a [company](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-company-business) like [Google](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-google-company).


The ability to not be censored is also vital.  Twitch has been making some headlines due to the decisions it made.  Threadcasts could offer something to users that the get nowhere else in this regard.


It is a feature that is slated for somewhere around the middle of the [year](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-year).  As we get closer, I am sure more details will emerge.
