In other words, we have to fill it with information that people want to interact with.  We cannot depend upon the daily uploads to garner enough interest.  Every [social media](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-social-media) platform has a [library](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-library) of content upon which is can extract value from.


Leo is no different.  


To achieve that end, it means building a library of content that people find meaningful.  Of course, this is a relative concept depending upon the individual.  For this reason, we need a wide cross-section of content that holds appeal.


There is no "one size fits all".

# Polls: A Pathway To Engagement


In this article, we are going to focus upon the use of polls to build a database of value.


Why are polls so powerful?  The answer lies that, if done properly, these can be an ongoing source of engagement.   What this means is that once it is created, it can be interacted with absent any more effort.


In other words, we create it once and it keep adding value each time someone interacts with it.


Remember the simple essence of [digital](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-digital) platforms.  They excel at taking incremental [gains](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-gain) in value and spreading it across the entire userbase.


This is what polls can do.  


That said, we have to be specific at what we are looking for.


## Polls That Are Valid For Years


We need polls that have no expiration date.


The problem with most is they tend to be about topics that have an expiration date.  For example, asking who is going to win the US Presidential election, Trump or Biden, is a valid poll.  However, it is temporary.  If someone comes across it in 2028, those two will not even be running. 


Therefore, while these are good for engagement in the moment, the long-term value is minimal.  Here is where have polls without the time element is crucial.


What do I mean by this?


Here is a sample.


Who is the greatest NY Yankee to ever live?


* Babe Ruth
* Joe DiMaggio
* Lou Gehrig
* Mickey Mantle


This is something that Yankee fans have argued for decades.  It will be a valid poll in 5 years.  If a fan of baseball, or more specific, the Yankees, comes across this, it can be voted upon.


Now consider what the platform would be like with 1 million of these polls.


That is how we get the database flowing with information.


## Building A Poll Database


This is something that is going to require some attention.  It is a simple, yet effective, way to add value.


As I write these words, the poll [option](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-options) is not working.  We know there are [node](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-node) issues that are garnering attention.  Hopefully this will be cleared up shortly.


Once that is resolved, I am going to start addressing this issue.  My focus is to develop polls that have staying [power](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-power).  This means asking question along the same lines as above.  It, of course, can be more than just about [sports](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-sports).   In fact, a wide [range](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-range) of topics is necessary.  


Another important component is going to be tags.  I think one of the essential tags is "polls".  This is common sense.  It will allow people to search under that category.  Then we also should tag the specific topic, with maybe sports and yankees being used for the example above.


Is this the grand pathway to multi-billion dollar valuation?  Not at all.  


It is, however, another way we can build value that the platform captures.  Imagine what it will be like to have 10K active polls going, all without an expiration date.  This is something that can be added to over time.  As it grows, there is more potential for activity.


Harken back to the concept of 1 million polls.  What kind of activity could this possible generate?  How about 5 million?  10 million?


These numbers seem absurd until you realize what is out there.  How many polls are there on [Twitter](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-twitter), [Facebook](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-facebook) or Reddit?  Granted, these platforms had years of activity and that is exactly the point.  Over time, a library of polls can be generated, many with the potential for future engagement.


Another point that has to be made is this does not only apply to [Threads](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/loeglossary-threads).  The plan is to add polls to [long form content](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-long-form-content).  This means polls can be build right into articles.


The point is we can get very innovative with how we use these.  They can combined with other ideas we have, especially on threads.  Over the past few days, there were about 400 [songs](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-song) added to [Music on Leo](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-music-album-collection), each with a poll tied to them.


We want enter the information once and have it used repeatedly.  Polls fit can epitomize this.
