Roll call on the columns of Saint Isaac's Cathedral and the beginning of a snowstorm

The day before, I walked around the city and was amazed at how it had been transformed. The marble and granite had stored up a lot of cold during the first frosty days of this year. As soon as it warmed up, the columns and statues became a concentration point for frost. Their surfaces became covered with a fluffy white coat of snow. The frost on the columns and other surfaces is fragile, it is enough to put your palm for a few seconds to get a clear imprint.

In the evening, I saw photos of palm prints on the columns of Saint Isaac's Cathedral Cathedral on social networks, and decided to go to see them the next day - if they had survived overnight. I wasn't sure if the weather trend would persist, but I got lucky. The frost was in place, and also in place were palm prints and inscriptions made by visitors to the cathedral.

I walked from column to column, reading this impromptu roll call: Vladivostok, Kazan, Tomsk, Belgorod, Ufa, Krasnodar... Between the names of the cities there were declarations of love, hearts and palm prints.

I decided to take some photos of St. Isaac's Cathedral with whitewashed columns from the garden on the square. Different kinds of stone were used in the decoration of St. Isaac's Cathedral. The columns of St. Isaac's Cathedral are made of red granite. This granite was extracted in the deposit located in Finland, the delivery of granite blocks was organized by sea. The facade of the temple is faced with Ruskealskiy marble, which was extracted in a deposit near Ladoga Lake. Usually dark-red columns contrast against the background of light marble, but on this day it seemed that the columns and walls were of the same color.

The entrance to the cathedral is on the south portico side, and that's where I walked at the beginning. But after I took the panoramic photos, I decided to walk around the cathedral to approach the columns of the north portico. That's where the exit from the cathedral is (yes, the entrance and exit are in different places), and I was hoping to see some other interesting drawings there.

Ussuriysk... I asked Google how many kilometers from Ussuriysk to St. Petersburg, and found out the answer - 9 401,6 km. Google immediately wrote me the approximate automobile route of this trip, and I had to flip the screen many times to see this route from beginning to end.

Opposite the north portico of St. Isaac's Cathedral is the Alexander Garden. I had planned to walk around the alleys of the garden for a while and take photos of the garden sculptures, but the snowstorm that was starting to set in tweaked my plans. I still took a few pictures of the snowfall, but I had to be careful not to let the snow flakes cover the lens.

Upon first glance I saw the graffiti and thought those vandals were incredibly foolish. Then I realized it's just writing in the frost.
