 The embankment of Karpovka river was closed for many years, but recently it was repaired and opened for visitors. I decided to go and see how this embankment looks now. I got off the bus at the stop on Ordinarnaya Street. The unusual building immediately attracted my attention. It was built in 1886. The sculptural workshop is located in this outbuilding.  The distance from the bus stop to Karpovka river embankment is small, about 500 meters, and soon I came to the beginning of the planned route. This section of the embankment is open to pedestrians and cyclists, car traffic is prohibited here.  Children's playgrounds, art objects, benches, flower beds appeared on the Karpovka embankment after the reconstruction. Swings I liked the most. The rest of the playgrounds are designed for children, and on this swing can swing adults too. Unfortunately, I caught a large line of those who wanted to, and I had to postpone this pleasure until another time.   After a walk along the transfigured embankment I went to the Bolshaya Nevka River. Here I saw the sign "pedestrian and bicycle traffic is allowed" again, but this sign appeared here only because the sidewalk in this place was made wide enough during the construction of the quay many years ago.  On the right is the Bolshaya Nevka River, on the other bank you can see old industrial buildings made of red bricks, on the left is the Botanical Garden. Above the trees you can see the spire of the TV tower. I was interested in the marina, I came closer to see it in detail. It is difficult to say when this wooden floating structure was built, but it looks ancient.   The territory of the Botanical Garden ends with a wooden structure on the corner of Professor Popov Street. This building was built in the middle of the XIX century as a cottage, now it is an official building. Further along the street are one-story greenhouses.    I finished my walk near the Electrotechnical Institute building. This majestic building was built in 1899-1903 specifically for the needs of this higher education school.  This is my entry for the #wednesdaywalk challenge by @tattoodjay.

Wow, it looks like they have done really well rejuvenating that area. The old factory looks like it has quite an intriguing history to it. I can imagine that it may have had many incantations throughout the years... the Electrotechnical Institute building is some very grand architecture there too and maintain very well, for although it is an old style, it looks like it could have been built in the last decade or so- just retro style. And I just remembered what the the clapboard buildings in this post and your walk last Wednesday remind me of- they remind me of the big, old houses up around upstate New York built around the same time....
