Cognitive Dissonance Part I

Cognitive dissonance is the state of having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as relating to behavioral decisions and attitude change.

For example, if you support the idea of mandatory vaccinations via a state apparatus and simultaneously hold the belief that someone has the right to choose about medical decisions (namely abortion, but there are other examples), you are displaying cognitive dissonance.  For anyone out there that actually holds those two beliefs, how do you reconcile the fact that they are diametrically opposed to one another?
