For a long time, KitchenAid mixers came with small cylinder feet, which were commonly found on models like the KSM90 and Classic. However, a new design was introduced with most Artisan mixers, and the good news is that these new feet can also be retrofitted to older models. One common issue users face is their mixer moving around on the countertop, especially when working on tougher tasks like kneading dough. To demonstrate this, I have two mixers, one with the original small feet and another with the improved feet. I'll now power them both on with the same mix. As you can see, the mixer with the smaller feet noticeably moves a lot more, while the one with the improved feet remains stable. If you want the peace of mind to be able to step away from your mixer without worrying about it toppling over, we highly recommend upgrading to the improved feet.
