___ *** ___ # Scientists create transforming flying robots ___ *** ___ - Anyone who thought that the Boston Dynamics dog robots were scary has not yet seen some Japanese scientists at work. They want to make the next generation of drones. That will be drones that can transform themselves. It is an impressive spectacle, as you can see on the video below. - Scientists at the University of Tokyo designed a flying robot dragon. DRAGON stands for Dual-rotor embedded multilink Robot with the Ability or multi-deGree-of-freedom aerial transfromatiON. - This flying robot uses 4 synchronized thrusters and can solve a large part of the problems that the current drones have. It is small enough to fly through small space and it can transform itself into the air in different forms. - The DRAGON can transform itself to transport cargo. Later, the scientists will also attach gripping arms or hooks to lift objects. They want to build 12 different modules. - The only drawback to date, the flying dragon can currently stay in the air for a maximum of 3 minutes. ___ *** ___ https://youtu.be/zMi5v2KznU4 ___ *** ___ Source: Quartz
