Switching or changing from one career to another is one of the biggest and most important decisions anyone would ever make. This is a decision that requires alot of thoughts, consideration, research, sacrifice and patience. People switch or change careers for so many reasons with the most common being not being happy with their current career, being underpaid and the future of a certain career.

I've had a change of career myself, I had studied chemistry in college with a postgraduate degree but chemists are highly underpaid in the country and I had to switch to a career I enjoy more and pays better which is being a visual artist and illustrator.

Before switching to a different career however, you should ask yourself if it's a decision your gonna be happy with. As much as changing a career because another seems to pay better is the most popular reason why people switch careers, I believe having a career you'd enjoy for the rest of your life and have no reason to change in the future is better than one you'd hate but keep doing because of the money involved. Choose a career path you're passionate about and you'd excel in it.

Secondly, there's no short cut when trying to make a switch in careers. You should be ready to so the work so you'd fit in to the market and be either well employed or you'd be knowledgeable enough to run a business in that path.  Being lazy won't help in ensuring a successful and smooth career change. You may end up not switching careers at the end of the day if you feel the work is too much and this is why it's best to make enquiries from experts and those experienced in this new career path to be sure you know what you're getting into and be prepared for the work. Ensure you do your due research before making the decision to switch.


Finally, I believe the best way to make a career switch is by doing it gradually. I won't advice anyone to quit their job or business to a start a different career they're not yet certain of or won't pay the bills just yet. I understand it has worked for a lot of people, but these are just the success stories we've heard and trust me, it is definitely gonna be a rough ride switching to different career swiftly and blindly.
