We've witnessed a massive adoption of blockchain technology in recent times but why exactly is the average person adopting the blockchain tech and cryptocurrencies?. Personally, I didn't understand what blockchain or cryptos were before adopting them as cryptocurrencies were used by a platform as a means of payment and that's how I first started using them. My simple understanding of cryptos then was a fast, borderless and decentralised means of sending money so I didnt even know what blockchain was until later.

I wasn't alone on this as quite alot of people I know today to be crypto gurus and blockchain lords had little to no understanding of what blockchain tech and cryptos were about before adopting them hence most people tend to look for utility as the reason for their adoption.

Let's take the Internet for example, its funny how till date, some people still don't know how the Internet works but use it in their everyday lives. Some have probably been using it for over a decade and still really don't care about what makes the Internet "internet" and so long it does the functions of solving their problems, they don't feel the need for a full understanding. 

Same way our mobile phones and gadgets,  billions of people use smartphones and top notch gadgets but how many people really know how they works and have full understanding of what does what and how? The smartphones and several gadgets help solves alot of problems the average human faces and that's why they're adopted by almost anyone.

Cryptocurrencies and blockchain tech isn't so different. Like myself, I believe millions of users didn't even know how the blockchain worked or maybe just a few had an understanding of how cryptocurrencies work, but what led to us adopting them was their utility and the problems they solved. Many of us went ahead to learn more about the tech after adopting it so we can have a better understanding and talk about them properly when asked.

I think every tech that has ever existed needs a quick breakdown or explanation of what it is, what it does and the problems it solves(utility). For instance, if I wanted a person to adopt a smartphone, I could tell them about how it could multitask, the speed, its portability and its productivity.  Same way if I wanted someone to adopt the internet, I could talk about how it is a global library and how every resources and materials on the planet can be reached so long they're uploaded on the Internet.

I think adoption is quite easy when people understand the problems the tech solves. A full understanding of how it works may come later but shouldn't be delayed to enable growth and development of the tech.
