Telegram has had quite a long history with cryptos and this move has been in development for quite a while now. It is a part of Telegram's way of introducing crypto in a very easy, cheap and fast way to the users of their messaging app while developing and promoting their native token, Toncoin.
Toncoin was created in 2019 and is currently ranked 207th on Coinmarketcap with a marketcap of $2.83 billion. Although this move has made the crypto get some crazy attention from millions of Telegram users and is proof that crypto can be merged on an already existing apps, it really didn't seem to have a significant effect on the price of the token which has been has been dropping steadily from around $5 to its current price of $2.0.
Telegram is quite famous among Russians and with the crash in price of the Ruble against the USD and with the economic crisis in the country, most Russians can't buy to support to the native token, hence there isn't any notable spike in price from the development.
Telegram is the first messaging app I know that allowed their users to set up bots that could communicate with other users nd this is why it has been famous in the crypto world for airdrops and crypto claims. This feature of allowing bot carry out the entire process of sending cryptos to users via chats is quite brilliant and I have a feeling we'd be seeing this more among another messaging apps that have been involved in cryptos over the years.
This development is a way of increasing global cryptocurrency adoption and in a way that it would allow the concept of crypto very easy to grasp by anyone who uses the app.
