I've found that what Samuel Smiles said here is profound. When we have a setback or a failure we can learn a lot from it. Rather than tearing ourselves apart for the failure, I find it is far better to learn from it so we don't do it again, and help others where we can.

This is so inspiring, the best way to learn is from mistakes.  You will be able to know that if you do things in certain ways, you will not have the result, and if you do it in other way round, you will have the result. 

Learning from other people's mistakes is very good too, because one will not live so long to repeat all the mistakes in the world.
