### Last month, [Carole Cadwalladr](https://www.theguardian.com/profile/carolecadwalladr) of [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com) published [this article about how "the british democracy was hijacked"](https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/may/07/the-great-british-brexit-robbery-hijacked-democracy), 
and it's an eye opening look into the nefarious goings on of the world's richest men. It's a VERY long article, but if you've got time, I highly encourage you to read the entire thing.

Right off the bat, you'll see this:

... which tells me it's not just another article talking shit that big companies can shrug off. They are legitimately pissed off at what this woman is saying, and want to sue her to keep her quiet.

It starts off talking about a company called [SCL Elections](https://www.linkedin.com/company/scl-elections), which was bought by [Robert Mercer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Mercer_(businessman)), and renamed [Cambridge Analytica](https://cambridgeanalytica.org/). C.A. is known to be involved with campaigns influencing opinions on both the Brexit referendum, and the most recent US presidential election, and tells you directly on their website that they "use data to change audience behavior".... WTF?

The article talks about a woman named [Sophie Schmidt](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophie_Schmidt), the daughter of Google Chairman, Eric Schmidt, who was "passing through" London in 2013. While in London, Sophie met with the chief executive of then SCL, telling him "You really need to get into data." and told him about a firm she learned about through a friend of her father. That firm? [Palantir](https://www.palantir.com/).

Palantir is owned by [Peter Theil](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Thiel), Co-founder of PayPal and a big time investor in our frenemy, Facebook, who is a major supporter of [Donald Trump](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump). Palantir holds government contracts all over the world, including the United States Intelligence Community, and the Department of Defense.

How this all these people and events are intertwined is an insanely intriguing scandal, with Cambridge Analytica at it's center.
