***¡Greetings to everyone!**, I welcome you to this new post in which I will try something new, that really makes me very excited, that's right, I'm going to do a review, and what better to do one than with one of the anime that I liked the most recently. This is the first time that I will do something like this, besides that doing a review considerably summarized and without spoilers of an anime of 24 chapters is very complicated, so if you have advice, things you want to correct, etc, do not hesitate to write it in the comments. ¡Without further ado, let's get started!*

## **Kekkai Sensen**

*First of all, let's start with the context. The story takes place in Hellsalem's Lot, previously known as New York City, you may ask, "how did we go from one of the biggest cities in the entire world to a city where the weirdest thing you can think of is the daily bread?", it's simple, three years ago a gap between the human world and the beyond opened, creating an impenetrable barrier around the city, and now New Yorkers and inhabitants of another world must live together.*

*Kekkai Sensen follows the story of Leonardo Watch, an ordinary young man, who after an incident provoked by an unknown entity, obtained the " All-Seeing Eyes of the Gods" in exchange for the vision of his sister Michella, who had sacrificed herself to protect her brother; now Leonardo moves to Hellsalem's Lot in search of information about his eyes, and a cure for his sister.*

*But this task would not be easy for our protagonist, Hellsalem's Lot is a very different place, it can go from being a quiet utopia with inhabitants of all sizes, shapes and colors, to a place full of chaos and destruction in just seconds; luckily a chain of events led Leo to the feet of a secret organization of superhumans in charge of maintaining order in the city and the balance between both worlds, its name? Libra, which welcomes Leo as one of its own, and from now on each of them will live mind-blowing adventures while protecting the city from the dangers that lie in the shadows.*

*As you may notice, from the beginning we are given to understand that what awaits us will not be a quiet or boring story, but a lot of crazy situations that will often take us by surprise, and full of characters with whom we can empathize, and even get attached to them, but I'll talk about that later.*

*The story maintains a steady pace, and sometimes so frenetic that a chapter can start quietly, to get out of control in the middle or almost ending the same, something that is repeated in both seasons, and with what you get used to faster than expected, and that can end up hooking you, although sometimes, especially when we go from a chapter of classic episodic progression, to continue with the main plot suddenly and reveal so many things at once, it tends to unsettle a little, luckily it is not something that happens very often, but it is still important to clarify it.*

>*Como podrán notar, ya desde el principio se nos da a entender que lo que nos espera no será una historia tranquila o aburrida, sino un montón de situaciones bastante alocadas que muchas veces nos tomarán por sorpresa, y llena de personajes con los que podemos empatizar, y hasta encariñarnos con ellos, pero ya de eso hablaré más adelante.*

>*La historia mantiene un ritmo constante, y a veces tan frenético que un capítulo puede empezar tranquilo, para salirse de control a la mitad o casi finalizando el mismo, algo que se repite en ambas temporadas, y con lo que llegas a acostumbrarte más rápido de lo esperado, y que puede terminar enganchándote, aunque algunas veces, sobre todo cuando pasamos de un capítulo de progresión clásica episódica, a continuar con la trama principal de repente y a revelar tantas cosas de golpe, suele descolocar un poco, por suerte no es algo que ocurra muy seguido, pero igual es importante aclararlo.*

*Hellsalem's Lot as it is repeated on several occasions is a city in which the weird is normal and the normal is weird, this is one of the most striking factors because everything can happen, from a simple bank robbery to a bioterrorist attack on a Godzilla scale by a super-intelligent bacteria (it seems a joke, but it is not); besides that, it has basic structures that work following the laws of their world and that sometimes often plays with human common sense, as the monstrous image that the rest of the world has about this city although for the inhabitants of the same is not a big deal; the simplistic motives but colossal actions of those who seek only chaos and destruction, etc; the truth I think the world is one of the best features of this anime, really delivers what it promises, and the environment does not feel monotonous at any time.*

>*Hellsalem’s Lot como se repite en varias ocasiones, es una ciudad en la que lo raro es normal y lo normal es raro, este es uno de los factores más llamativos ya que puede pasar de todo, desde un simple robo de banco, hasta un atentado bioterrorista a escala Godzilla por parte de una bacteria súper inteligente (parece broma, pero no lo es); además de que cuenta con estructuras básicas que funcionan siguiendo las leyes de su mundo y que a veces suele jugar con el sentido común humano, como la imagen monstruosa que tiene el resto del mundo sobre esta ciudad aunque para los habitantes de la misma no sea la gran cosa; los motivos simplistas pero de acciones colosales de aquellos que buscan sólo el caos y la destrucción, etc; la verdad creo que el mundo es uno de los mejores rasgos de este anime, de verdad cumple con lo que promete, y el ambiente no se siente monótono en ningún momento.*

*He is the protagonist, a young and kind hobby photographer who lived peacefully with his sister Michella and the rest of his family until the incident happened, and now possesses one of the most broken eye abilities I've ever seen in an anime "the all-seeing eyes", as the repertoire of things he can do is too extensive, luckily not omnipotent, but quite exploitable (I guess this Leo is not so normal anymore after all).*

*Beyond that he is a boy like any other, with his strengths and his many weaknesses, regrets, and fears, whose personality contrasts a lot with the inhabitants of Hellsalem, since such traits as kindness, putting others before himself, and helping anyone who needs it without asking anything in return, are unusual traits in the inhabitants of that city; and his stay is shaped in him because thanks to the people he meets throughout the anime he learns valuable lessons that make him grow as a person.*

>*Es el protagonista, un joven y amable fotógrafo por hobby que vivía tranquilamente con su hermana Michella y el resto de su familia, hasta que el incidente ocurrió, y ahora posee una de las habilidades oculares más rotas que he visto en un anime “los ojos que todo lo ven”, ya que el repertorio de cosas que puede hacer es demasiado extenso, por suerte no omnipotente, pero sí bastante explotable (creo que este Leo ya no es tan normal después de todo).*

>*Más allá de eso es un chico como cualquier otro, con sus fortalezas y sus muchas debilidades, arrepentimientos y temores, cuya personalidad contrasta mucho con los habitantes de Hellsalem, pues tales rasgos como la amabilidad, el poner a los demás antes que a él, y ayudar a aquel que lo necesite sin pedir nada a cambio, son rasgos poco usuales en los habitantes de esa ciudad; y su estadía se va plasmando en él, pues gracias a las personas que va conociendo a lo largo del anime aprende valiosas lecciones que lo hacen crecer como persona.*

*All this makes Leo a character that I love because he is not the typical overbearing hero that jumps into action at the first opportunity and always comes out victorious, he has a mission, his goals, and things that only he can do; he always looks for how he can help, although many times he can't do anything; he also has clear his strengths and weaknesses, but even so, he never gives up for the sake of his loved ones. A reflection of this is in his ability, for as broken as it is, it's something that tires him a lot, something that can roast his brain if he uses it too long, so he can't abuse it too much, plus for his ideals, he decided not to use it for his benefit, and it's something that fascinates me.*

>*Todo esto vuelve a Leo un personaje que me encanta, ya que no es el típico héroe prepotente que se lanza a la acción en la primera oportunidad y siempre sale victorioso, él tiene una misión, sus objetivos, y cosas que sólo él puede hacer;  siempre busca cómo puede ayudar, aunque muchas veces no puede hacer nada; él también tiene en claro sus fortalezas y sus debilidades, pero aun así nunca se da por vencido por el bien de sus seres queridos. Un reflejo de esto es en su habilidad, pues por mi rota que esté, es algo que lo cansa mucho, algo que literalmente puede rostizar su cerebro si lo usa mucho tiempo, así que no puede abusar mucho de la misma, además de que por sus propios ideales, él decidió no usarlo para su propio beneficio, y es algo que me fascina.*

#### Michella

*She is Leo's younger sister, born with a disease that prevents her from walking, but that does not take away the courage of this young woman, because she is a person who would defend her family, and especially her brother, whom she admires and loves with all her heart. Unfortunately, she is not seen much throughout the series, but once she makes an appearance we get to know a little more about her, her personality, her way of thinking, and her actions; At one point in the story she jumps back into action and shows that she is not just a secondary character, just a reason to justify the search for Leo, demonstrating the strength of the bond between them, and the strength of their will, I liked this a lot because we were always getting expectations regarding Michella and her reunion with Leo, but much was my joy when in the end those expectations were more than fulfilled.*

>*Es la hermana menor de Leo, nació con una enfermedad que le impide caminar, pero eso no le quita la valentía a esta joven, pues es una persona que defendería a su familia, y sobre todo a su hermano, a quien ella admira y ama con todo su corazón. Lamentablemente no se le ve mucho a lo largo de la serie, pero una vez hace aparición pudimos conocer un poco más acerca de ella, su personalidad, su forma de pensar, y su accionar; en un punto de la historia ella vuelve a saltar a la acción y demuestra que no es un simple personaje secundario, sólo un motivo para justificar la búsqueda de Leo, demostrando la fortaleza del lazo entre ambos, y el de su voluntad, esto me gustó mucho pues siempre nos iban metiendo expectativas con respecto a Michella y su reencuentro con Leo, pero mucha fue mi alegría cuando al final esas expectativas fueron más que cumplidas.*

#### Libra members/Miembros de Libra

*Libra is an organization full of eccentric members, of multiple races, colors, and abilities, sometimes it seems that this discordance results in that these people cannot be together under any context, but it is not so, in reality, they are all united by a set of values and a sense of justice in common, putting courage as the main value, just what Leo needed to move forward because, in the beginning, he described himself as a coward.*

*Another thing I love is that each of its members has traits that distinguish them from each other (beyond the physical), both in personality and in the way they act and how they execute the values they stand for in different ways that distinguish them the most; we could give us an example Klaus, the leader of the organization, being the greatest figure of courage, someone who never gives up, someone who wants to save the helpless, and who cares for his companions like a father, then we have Stevenson, the second in command, someone who at first glance seems like a relaxed man, but in reality can become ruthless, being able to do what he considers "right", in the wrong way, and then Zapp, someone who if it were not for his talent and his perspective of courage, no one would understand what he does in Libra. (I'd like to talk a lot more about them, but this is already getting too long).*

>*Libra es una organización repleta de miembros excéntricos, de múltiples razas, colores, y habilidades, a veces pareciera que esta discordancia resulte en que estas personas no pueden estar juntas bajo ningún contexto, pero no es así, en realidad todos se ven unidos por una serie de valores y un sentido de justicia en común, poniendo el coraje como el valor principal, justo lo que necesitaba Leo para avanzar, pues en un principio él se describía a sí mismo como un cobarde.*

>*Otra cosa que me encanta es que cada uno de sus miembros tiene rasgos que los distinguen entre sí (más allá de lo físico), tanto en personalidad como en manera de actuar y en cómo ejecutan los valores que ellos defienden de diversas maneras lo que más los distinguen; podríamos poner de ejemplo a Klaus, el líder de la organización, siendo la mayor figura del coraje, alguien que nunca se rinde, alguien que quiere salvar al indefenso, y que cuida de sus compañeros como un padre, después tenemos a Stevenson, el segundo al mando, alguien que a primera vista parece un hombre relajado, pero en realidad puede llegar a ser despiadado, pudiendo hacer lo que considera “correcto”, de manera incorrecta, y después a Zapp, alguien que si no fuera por su talento y su perspectiva del valor, nadie entendería qué hace en Libra. (De verdad me gustaría hablar mucho más acerca de ellos, pero esto ya se está volviendo demasiado extenso)*

*I liked the detail that they used the second season mostly to show us more about the libra members, because as good as the first season is, being a 12 episode anime, it can't afford to go deep into several things when you have the main story to tell, and therefore many of the things that could have been taken advantage of, ended up not being used or shown, and even with what Beyond left us, several things remain to be seen and to be known, but at least they distributed much better how we were being introduced or showing new or already known characters respectively.*

>*Me gustó mucho el detalle de que usaran la segunda temporada más que todo para mostrarnos más acerca de los miembros de libra, pues por muy buena que sea la primera temporada, al ser un anime de 12 capítulos, no se puede permitir profundizar en varias cosas cuando se tiene una historia principal que contar, y por lo tanto muchas de las cosas que pudieron haberse aprovechado, terminaron sin ser utilizadas o mostradas, y aún con lo que nos dejó Beyond, hay varias cosas que nos quedan por ver y por saber, pero al menos distribuyeron mucho mejor la forma en la que se nos iban presentando o mostrando personajes nuevos o ya conocidos respectivamente.*

#### Black & White

*The twin brothers Macbeth is also a very important part of this story (or at least with a lot of presence in its first season), together with Michella and Leo, form one of the purest and well-represented bonds of brotherhood I've seen in an anime, each one has a great individual value as a character, but together they make this value something more solid, combined with a sincere and heartwarming brotherly love, caring, caring, and sacrificing for each other if necessary.*

*White is a friendly and sympathetic young woman who, because of a terrible "illness" is hospitalized in a hospital, and in whose vicinity she meets Leo, and becomes one of the first friends he has in the city, and they form a very nice relationship, perhaps not loving, but quite adorable, besides showing an even stronger attachment due to being in a similar situation to that of the young man.*

>*Los hermanos gemelos Macbeth también son parte muy importante de esta historia (o al menos con mucha presencia en su primera temporada), estos junto a Michella y Leo, forman unos de los lazos de hermandad más puros y bien representados que he visto en un anime, cada uno tiene un gran valor individual como personaje, pero juntos vuelven de este valor algo más sólido, combinado con un sincero y enternecedor amor fraternal, preocupándose, cuidándose, y sacrificándose por el otro de ser necesario.*

>*White es una joven amigable y simpática que por culpa de una terrible “enfermedad” está internada en un hospital, que en cuyas cercanías conoce a Leo, y se vuelve una de las primeras amigas que éste tiene en la ciudad, y que forman una relación muy bonita, quizás no amorosa, pero sí bastante adorable, además de demostrar un apego aún más fuerte debido a encontrarse en una situación similar a la del joven. *

*Black is a quiet, somewhat awkward, and rather shy boy, who cares a lot about his sister, and would do anything to keep her safe, even showing the courage he had only once shown to save her, making a decision that would mark both of their lives in the long run, even poor Leo's, who unfortunately gets involved as well.*

>*Black es un chico tranquilo, algo torpe y bastante tímido, el cual se preocupa mucho por su hermana, y haría lo que sea para mantenerla a salvo, incluso demostrando un valor que sólo una vez había mostrado para poder salvarla, tomando una decisión que marcaría la vida de ambos a la larga, incluso la del pobre Leo, quien lamentablemente se ve involucrado también.*

*I really liked how they showed the relationship of these two brothers, both as children with their parents, and as teenagers, you can get to feel the feelings they are trying to convey based on their actions and behavior, besides having a pretty solid justification for them.*

#### Direction/Dirección
*The direction of this anime seemed to me very well used, as I mentioned before, the chapters feel quite dynamic in terms of the way everything is shown, both in the progression of the story throughout a chapter, as in information, also in how well achieved is the representation of Hellsalem's Lot, and above all, how well aspects such as animation and soundtrack fit together at the most appropriate moments.*

>*La dirección de este anime me pareció muy bien empleada, ya como he mencionado anteriormente, los capítulos se sienten bastante dinámicos en cuanto a la manera de mostrar todo, tanto en la progresión de la historia a lo largo de un capítulo, como en información, también en lo bien lograda que está la representación de Hellsalem’s Lot, y sobretodo, lo bien que pegan aspectos como la animación y la banda sonora en los momentos más indicados.*

#### Animation/Animación
*The animation of this anime was made by Bones studio (Boku no hero academy, Mob Psycho 100, Full metal alchemist, among many others), so you can expect nothing but excellent work from them, from the beginning you can notice very dedicated attention to detail (you only need to see Leo's eyes to realize this), and great respect for the tones of each scene, serving perfectly as for the absurd and comic parts, as for the epic or serious moments, which are usually accompanied by a very fluid animation, which although sometimes is not the best when it comes to making sense of what you see on screen, it is quite dynamic and pleasing to the eye.*

>*La animación de este anime fue hecha por el estudio Bones (Boku no hero academia, Mob Psycho 100, Full metal alchemist, entre muchos otros), por lo que no ha de esperarse nada más que un excelente trabajo de su parte, desde un principio se nota una muy dedicada atención al detalle (sólo hacen falta ver los ojos de Leo para darse cuenta de esto), y un gran respeto a los tonos de cada escena, sirviendo perfectamente como para las partes absurdas y cómicas, como para los momentos épicos o serios, los cuales por lo general son acompañados de una animación muy fluida, que aunque a veces no sea la mejor a la hora de buscarle sentido a lo que se ve en pantalla, sí es bastante dinámica y agradable a la vista.*

#### Soundtrack/Banda sonora
*The soundtrack of this anime is mostly composed by Fujiwara Motoo and Taisei Iwasaki, and this is one of the best sections of the whole anime, in my opinion, the high quality of each of its themes is too great, you only need to listen to great songs like "On My Own" to realize this, they hit a lot with the scenes in which they are played and managed to convey the right emotion to the viewer.*

*Not to mention of course how good their openings and endings are, starting with "Hello, world" by Bump of chicken and "Fake town, baby" by Unison Square Garden, well the first opening is unbeatable thanks to its good progressive rhythm and how it fits so well with the series, but this doesn't diminish how well done the second one is (too bad I can't find the full official version :c), it's not one of my favorites honestly, but Unison Square Garden always finds a way to get me hooked. Then we have "Sugar Song to Bitter Step" from Unison Square Garden and "Step Up Love" made by DAOKO and Yasuyuki Okamura... And what can I tell you, friends, the first ending is a great song wherever you want to see it, from the animation to the musicality are things that I love, all good with Step Up Love the initial rhythm has stuck to me many times, let alone the musical talent of Daoko, but Sugar Song to Bitter Step beats me, isn't my favorite ending of all times for nothing.*

>*Sin mencionar por supuesto lo buenos que son sus openings y endings, empezando con “Hello, world” de Bump of chicken y “Fake town, baby” de Unison Square Garden, bien el primer opening es insuperable gracias a su buen ritmo progresivo y el cómo encaja tan bien con la serie, pero esto no disminuye lo bien hecho que está el segundo (qué lástima que no pueda encontrar la versión completa oficial :c), no es de mis favoritos honestamente, pero Unison Square Garden siempre encuentra la forma de engancharme. Después tenemos a “Sugar Song to Bitter Step” de Unison Square Garden y “Step Up Love” hecho por DAOKO y Yasuyuki Okamura… Y qué les puedo decir amigos, el primer ending es un temazo por donde se le quiera ver, desde la animación hasta la musicalidad son cosas que me encantan, todo bien con Step Up Love, de hecho el ritmo inicial se me ha quedado pegado muchas veces, y ni hablemos del talento musical de Daoko, pero Sugar Song to Bitter Step definitivamente me supera, por algo es mi ending favorito de todos los tiempos.*

*Kekkai Sensen is a very good anime, in which thanks to its world the unexpected and the constant craziness are something common, full of empathetic or at least endearing characters of which you tend to want to know more, and whose main story keeps you hooked every time the situation gets out of control, plus it is accompanied by technical aspects that are perfect with the tone of the work, with which you can remember it with a smile more marked.*

*But, of course, it is far from perfect, it has some other details that may not be to the liking of many and it is somewhat understandable, being an anime that knows what it is going, it does not seek to do or go beyond that, so if you are looking for a series with many deaths, tragedies, with a super deep plot and dramatic characters with an incredible back story, that every action has repercussions from start to finish in the actions of a character, and that moves away from all the tropes of a fighting anime like the rest (although I don't consider it as one), well, maybe this anime is not for you.*

*I'm not one of those who like to give ratings to works because I still don't consider myself to be a good enough critic, besides being something quite relative, and by the way, the anime is not finished yet, but for everything shown, this anime could easily earn my 7.5/10. I already want to read the manga to see if it keeps the same quality (because who knows when they will release the third season e.e).*

>*Kekkai Sensen es un muy buen anime, en el que gracias a su mundo lo inesperado y las constantes locuras son algo común, lleno de personajes empatizables o como mínimo entrañables de los cuales sueles querer saber más, y cuya historia principal te mantiene enganchado cada que la situación se sale de control, además de que está acompañada de aspectos técnicos que van perfectos con el tono de la obra, con los cuales podrás recordarla con una sonrisa más marcada. *

>*Eso sí, está lejos de ser perfecto, tiene algún que otro detalle que pueden no ser del agrado de muchos y es algo comprensible, al ser un anime que sabe a lo que va, no busca hacer o ir más allá de eso, así que si buscas una serie con muchas muertes, tragedias, con una trama super profunda y personajes dramáticos con una back story increíble, que cada acción repercuta de inicio a fin en el accionar de un personaje, y que se aleje de todos los tropos de un anime de peleas como el resto (aunque yo no lo considere como uno), pues, quizás este anime no sea para ti.*

>*No soy de los que les gusta poner calificaciones a las obras pues aún no me considero con la suficiente madera de crítico, además de ser algo bastante relativo, y que de paso el anime aún no está terminado, pero por todo lo mostrado, este anime podría ganarse fácilmente mi 7.5/10. Ya me quiero leer el manga para ver si mantiene la misma calidad (porque quién sabe cuándo saquen la tercera temporada e.e)*
