It has been a while since I have done a vlog (video blog), I started making Youtube cryptocurrency videos before signing up at Steemit.com. At the time, I uploaded a couple of videos and was at the time very excited about Ethereum and the DAO, which I thought would be a catalyst for changing the world and was geared up to be a part of that.
This was not to be as the DAO was hacked before it even got off the ground; and my dreams for world change dashed along with it. Fortunately, I was introduced to Steemit shortly after and my inner dreamer has been re-awakened. I found a like-minded community who I can support and who are only too happy to support me, and the reality of changing the world for the better is ever closer each day.
This last week I have had empathy for fellow Steemians panicking over the Steem price drop; seemingly having their own dreams dashed and finding themselve in a state of panic and concern over the Steem price and the future of Steemit in general. What may not be very apparent however is that due to the way Steem/Steemit is structured, one is always hedged against price fluctuations as per my video explanation.
This week we have had a few factors affecting the market price, namely:
+ Whales cashing out of their Steem holdings as described by @lukestokes’ post, entitled “[Steem < = >USD. Who’s Cashing Out? Who’s Powering Up?](https://steemit.com/steemit/@lukestokes/steemit-money-who-is-cashing-out-who-is-powering-up)
+ The @supercomputing , disruptive miner, which has overrun the mining queue and cast fears of Steem oversupply in the market and potential mining centralisation.
+ @dollarvigilante ’s recent [post](https://steemit.com/steemit/@dollarvigilante/want-to-be-a-steemillionaire-here-are-the-crucial-things-to-do-for-newbies-on-steemit) being subjected to vigorous down voting by disgruntled “whales”, only to be upvoted again by @dantheman, showing instability and sending a message of foreboding to other vloggers like Berwick thinking of dipping their feet in the Steemy waters, lest they get crucified.
+ The Steem Dollar “peg” not really holding closely to the USD as was advertised to be 1:1. In the video you will see me discuss a concept of holding monetary policy committee meetings similar to those which are held regularly in my country, South Africa to discuss interest rates and report back to the public.
Interest rate hikes are normally used to stimulate foreign investment and stabilize the national currency.
### Summary:
My vlog covers all these topics and offers friendly suggestions and insights into this week’s challenges, most importantly, keep calm and Steem on!
Sincerely,

@thecryptodrive || @steemdrive || @bravenewcoin (and a few others…)

Yes, I know there is loud cabin noise in my car, I left my headset behind and felt inspired to do an adhoc blog as the spur pf the moment, you can still hear what I’m saying, which is the most important thing…or you can listen to the car sounds instead if it is not.
