Kava kava has been delegalised in my country few years ago, together with more than 100 novelty drugs (research chemicals). This was absolutely unreasonable decision and there was bottom-up campaign in following years, aiming for making this herb legal again. It was a surprise for many, when around 3 years ago they succeeded.

 Soon after I ordered my first 250g pack and tried it for the first time. Effects included nice combination of relaxation and euphory. Before I heard it might be similar to alkohol or weed, somehow in between, but for me it was superior to both of these and unique. Taste is very specific, earthy and drink leaves funny feeling in mouth. I'll definitely buy my next pack to keep it for special occasions.

Mullein, mugwort, wormwood, raspberry leaves, peppermint, spearmint!

These plants don't sound familiar merely looking at their common name. I will look them from the scientific side and see what I can come up with. A post could also come out just like the St John's wort.

It is good to be here again, this time I took some time to read the comments and even do a quick research on kava kava because of the three plants chosen for this week, I have only had experience with valerian and lavender. About valerian I can tell you that my experience with it has been varied as it has helped me with its typical use for anxiety, as well as helping me to **control episodes of hypertension**. Using a teaspoon in a little bit of water. About a 1/4 of a glass.  




With lavender, its relaxing properties are desired and exquisite, especially in the form of oils, creams or other presentation in different products for personal care. I love this plant for its fragrance, its relaxing effects and for body care.

I have to say that I might not get time for a post, but kava kava is amazing for me at the moment. My naturopath put it in a herbal blend I was using to calm my nervous system, but I can't afford her mixes anymore so I'm taking the herbs separately as more affordable supplements. Kava you can buy at the pharmacy in Australia and it really helps me sleep. I know that you shouldn't use it long term as it may affect the liver. HOWEVER I'm not sure whether this has been a historically negative branding of kava as [this article](https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/2050324519876131) suggests and would lvoe to know what others think. Certainly the hyperlinked article debunks it:

The final ruling by the Court was that it was unlikely kava had caused the reported deaths, and that liver damage from kava was so rare it was negligible. Interestingly, FAR less toxicity than, say, diazapem (kava is also good for anxiety, which is why I take it).
