First Look on the new set: Band of the Wolf!

Greetings everyone,

It has been quite a while since I posted last here and that is because I did not have quite the time to do so since I was busy with work and barely able to squeeze in my 10 daily games each time. However, I did keep track of the game updates as much as possible and the changes that have been done each time and I am glad to see the game improving a bit each time!

What I am even more excited about now is the new upcoming expansion which I can safely say was definitely needed since it has been a while since we had new big set come into the game! We definitely needed a new refresh because the game was starting to get a bit repetitive for me but now this is a new opportunity for a change and even more exciting decks!

So since I had the time now I decided to share with you in this post my overall thoughts about the new set as well as several cards that are very interesting in my opinion as well as the reason why I think these cards are a bit more special than others, so without further ado let's jump into it:

# New Interesting cards!



Now these are the cards that I think will shine a bit more than others, either in general or in specific decks I will get into details about this as I address each card by itself:

## Bitter Ending

Now despite this card not appearing to be strong, however these type of cards usually attract me because they open spaces for strange weird decks to come into play. And I think this one might be one of those cards if the 6/7 mana creature that fits it was found! It should similar to exodio of gods unchained though!

## Poison Dart

Now the reason why I think this card is good, is because I think it is a better version of **Frenzied Rituals** in Control Nature which is doing decent at the moment, also now you do not have to sacrifice a creature of your own as well as you remove the random factor of the damage, but giving up on a random generated nature card.

# The Structure Trio

These 3 cards individually, or combined together might be the opening of new, amazing structure magic decks just like the good old days! They work pretty well together and have very interesting effects to say the least, can not wait to see what they bring to the table!

## Hortuk, Fallen Commander

I feel like this will be a pretty good card considering the effects that it has, it is a bit versatile considering what you might need in that specific situation; you need some leech or you need more clear for this turn with extra protection? Now it might not be as strong as other cards, but I can see it being used quite well!

# Ember Oni

I am getting some **Demogorgons** vibes without the sleep here! It is definitely a very good option to clear especially against deck that rely on filling the board and can leech you quite a bit too since it hits all creatures on board! A pretty good option for the 7 mana spot in many control decks I would say. Interested to see it being used!

# The Deception Steal duo!

Another set, another way for deception to play with the enemy decks! I would say this might work pretty well against Control decks in specific, since it needs time to be set up, and definitely fails against aggro, however it is very intersting to see it in play too! Another way to steal even more cards from my opponent yay!

# Overall thoughts about the set!



Now there are many interesting cards in the new set, however, I did not mention them all because I wanted to highlight the ones that I think were very unique and interesting, but it does not mean they will necessarily be used the most!

As for the overall set, I feel like it contains many different and interesting cards and effects, as well as a new keyword "Ally" which will bring life and excitement back to the game and I can not wait for that! I think this time was the most versatile and unique expansion to me. Now all we hope for too is for it to be as balanced as possible and not have cards that are out of hand!

That was it for this post, I just wanted to talk quickly and briefly about the new set and give my humble opinion about it. I will try to post regularly again as soon as possible and there will be more fun and exciting posts about new deck with the new set of cards getting into the game! I love this card-stealing feature of this card, I think it will make deception decks stronger when combined with Cutthroat Insight.

Good points about poison dart! Armor at the 7-8 mana range is pretty rare, so this should work nicely instead of SB.

Bitter Endings: will be interesting to see what people come up with. It seems like a 1-turn finisher like the Rock Drake list that was popular for a while. You obviously don't play it until you can kill them with it. You'd need to ramp/stall for longer because OTL is 6 mana now. At 8 mana: play 2x Bitter Endings, Necronomics, all your 0-cost cards (including thanetars), then OTL.

Add to this list **Shrike Moonlighter** with keyword Ally (and potentially **Layshadow**, who know maybe it'll have roar too).

I have no Incubus but I have 4 Lantern-Bound Fae 😁 If it's Meta, I'll have some profit 🙂

Fae might be a finisher: 3 jump by means of Spore-Light Lantern = 9 damage. + one more jump, its own, order-connected. 12 potential damage altogether. And there is another pull-a-creature BW card:

**Leyshadow??** Pulling a creature from the board means you'll have something nice in exchange. 1/1 isn't nice. So, will it be another Shadow of Lethenon or a creature with ward or tempt fate?... An interesting order effect??

So... A lot to think about.

Fun, for sure. With Raze Imp + Spore-Light Lantern, you can spam your deck with Nethers, and nobody can guarantee those won't be 8 Demos (1 its own roar and 3 roars by means of Lantern = 8 Nethers). 😁
