Price, cost and value are entirely different things. The amount of money you agree to pay for a specific goods or service is the price. The amount of money it takes to produce the same goods and services is the cost. The difference between the two is the value or the profit, or in certain cases the “good will”. The value depends upon the discretion of anyone. It varies with the individual which it was asked.


But there are things which are routinely used and consumed yet the price of acquiring it, is zero. Yet, these services are in the circa long ago however the services it provides are still available as always. One good example of those businesses is the Google.

Google is not giving away its service out of altruism. In fact, the company is paid quite handsomely, though not directly by the users themselves. By building a site that attracts hundreds of millions of visitors each day, Google is able to collect extremely valuable data about consumer behaviour. This data is what consumers “pay” for the privilege of using Google (even though it costs them nothing). In turn, Google’s huge user base attracts advertisers who are willing to fork over a great deal (this time in real cash) for the privilege of exposing their wares to a broader market (also known as the “eyeballs”).

The key ingredient towards the value proportion is the scale. The scale of the ability of a product to attract millions of customers can justify what may seem to be a enormous amount of compensation. Value is a win or win proposition, all sides must benefit from each other.
