<center><h1>COMMON MISTAKES</h1> </center>

Lets continue [this](https://steemit.com/blog/@therealkobby/english-hub-common-mistakes-part-4-by-mr-kobby) previous post on common mistakes. I'm going to point out other numerous grammatical mistakes we have making in our everyday writing and conversation.

The following symbols are the keys purposely provided to open your understanding to the problems.

<table><thead>
<tr><th><center>W ---- Wrong</center></th><th><center>C ---- Correct</center></th></tr>
</thead></table>

---

<div class="phishy"><b>39. WAVE | AT </b></div> <br>
<b>W:</b> The boy wave his father <br>
<b>C:</b> The boy waved at his father

<table><thead>
<tr><th>
NOTE: "<b><i>Wave</i></b>" must always be followed by "<b><i>at</i></b>" the preposition should not be omitted.
</th></tr>
</thead></table>

---

<div class="phishy"><b>40. NEW INNOVATION </b></div> <br>
<b>W:</b> The manager has infused new innovative ideas into the company's policy <br>
<b>C:</b> The manager has infused innovative ideas into the company's policy <br>
<b>C:</b> The manager has infused new ideas into the company's policy

<table><thead>
<tr><th>
NOTE: The Expression "<b><i>New Innovation</i></b>" is redundant because innovation means by definition something new, the introduction of novelty. Therefore, '<b><i>new</i></b>' adds nothing which is not already contained in the meaning of innovation. Similar examples of redundancy of tautology are found in Numbers; 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 22
</th></tr>
</thead></table>

---

<div class="phishy"><b>41. MUTUAL COOPERATION </b></div> <br>
<b>W:</b> Our mutual cooperation is needed for the party's progress <br>
<b>C:</b> Our cooperation is needed for the party's progress. <br>
<b>C:</b> Our mutuality is needed for the party's progress. <br>

<table><thead>
<tr><th>
NOTE: <b><i>Mutual cooperation</i></b> is tautological because the notion of "<b><i>mutuality</i></b>" is contained in the meaning of cooperation, the "CO" part of which means together.
</th></tr>
</thead></table>

---

<div class="phishy"><b>42. INSPITE OF | IN SPITE OF </b></div> <br>
One common mistake that people have been committing under spelling is the wrong amalgamation of words

<table><thead>
<tr><th>CORRECT SPELLING</th><th>WRONG SPELLING</th></tr>
<tr><th>In fact</th><th>Infact</th></tr>
<tr><th>In case</th><th>Incase</th></tr>
<tr><th>In front</th><th>Infront</th></tr>
<tr><th>In spite of</th><th>Inspite of</th></tr>
</thead></table>

---

<div class="phishy"><b>43. PROPERTY | PROPERTIES </b></div> <br>
<b>W:</b> The thieves stole all my properties <br>
<b>C:</b> The thieves stole all my property

<table><thead>
<tr><th>
NOTE: <b><i>Property</i></b> meaning 'personal possessions' is an uncountable noun. It is countable: noun.
</th></tr>
</thead></table>

- When it means 'house' as used by estate agents and other involved in the buying and selling of houses.
- When it means 'characteristics, peculiarity',

Compare:
* What are the properties of water?
* Reaction with acids to form oxides is a property of metals.
