La Navidad es una época para compartir y disfrutar en familia, de regalos, reuniones, reencuentros y de lo mejor de degustar esos platos navideños que tantos esperamos por su sabor exquisito. Entonces cualquier venezolano diría que la comida navideña es parte de todo disfrute. Aquí, les muestro los platos que se suelen ofrecer en las cenas de Navidad y Año Nuevo.

>Christmas is a time to share and enjoy as a family, for gifts, meetings, reunions and the best of tasting those Christmas dishes that so many of us expect for their exquisite taste. So any Venezuelan would say that Christmas food is part of every enjoyment. Here, I show you some of the dishes that are usually offered at Christmas and New Year's dinners.

La hallaca, engalana el plato en la Navidad y suele estar presente en cualquier cena de nochebuena o año nuevo donde se reúnan venezolanos, su delicioso sabor es heredado de cada familia dándole su toque personal con su guiso. Sin ella, la Navidad no es Navidad, es el plato principal, en torno a ella giran los siguientes platos típicos navideños.

Su preparación se basa  con un rico guiso de carnes rojas y cochinos aderezado con diferentes aliños, con masa de maíz  y envueltas en hojas de plátano deleita a muchos venezolanos o extranjeros, estén donde estén. Este plato requiere la ayuda de varias personas para  prepararse y  cada quien pone un granito de arena  y eso lo hace especial, porque compartimos en familia.

>Its preparation is based on a rich stew of red meat and pork seasoned with different dressings, with corn dough and wrapped in banana leaves delights many Venezuelans or foreigners, wherever they are. This dish requires the help of several people to prepare and each one puts a grain of sand and that makes it special, because we share it as a family.

No puede faltar en la mesa, comienza diciembre y ya lo estamos comiendo. Puedes prepararlo en casa. Debido al uso de ingredientes representativos de estas fiestas, esta receta ha sido acompañada por los venezolanos durante la Navidad durante más de 100 años. Su versión original es una masa de pan semidulce rellena de jamón cocido y decorada con pasas y aceitunas. Algunas personas han hecho versiones más nuevas de hojaldre, queso crema y tocino.

Es el acompañante ideal de la famosa Hallaca, es una pierna de cerdo marinada en una mezcla de hierbas y condimentos, y luego asada hasta que esté completamente cocida y tenga un atractivo color dorado. Algunas familias suelen rellenarlos con tocino, pimentón y aceitunas para realzar el sabor.

Esta es una colorida ensalada hecha con zanahorias, papas y guisantes, a la que se le agrega  pechuga de gallina o de pollo, y luego se sazona con mayonesa hasta obtener una mezcla homogénea. Muchos la  prefieren combinarla con trozos de manzana verde , palmitos, maíz y piña para darle una sensación más tropical.

>This is a colorful salad made with carrots, potatoes and peas, to which chicken or chicken breast is added, and then seasoned with mayonnaise until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Many prefer to combine it with pieces of green apple, palm hearts, corn and pineapple to give it a more tropical feeling.

Cabe resaltar la importancia de los postres y las bebidas típicas de estas festividades navideñas , entre ellos encontramos el dulce de papaya, tortas negras, cabello de ángel, nueces, avellanas, el panettone, ponche crema, ron de ponsigue y vino de manzana.

Espero que todas las familias puedan disfrutar de la comida navideña, y todos los niños de cada rincón del mundo sonrían al ver los regalos debajo del árbol de Navidad. Que la situación que estamos viviendo no nos haga sentir tristes. Es hora de  convertir las emociones negativas en emociones positivas. Esta es una era de paz, unión y buenos deseos.
