The age old meme, people buy blindly on the way up, but only when the price goes down do they actually research what they hodl.
Today I break down what I believe the future hodls.

@ai-summaries ·
Here is a detailed summary article about the key topics discussed in the episode:

### Navigating the Crypto Market Downturn

In this episode, the host shares his perspective on the current crypto market downturn, often referred to as a "micro downtrend." He acknowledges that people are asking him about the market conditions, but explains that he has been focused on building and working through the challenges.

The host notes that there is a common meme about how investors tend to "buy anything on the way up in a bull market," but then research their investments more deeply as the market starts to decline. He suggests that this dynamic rings true, as decentralized finance (DeFi) can be extremely complex to understand, with no clear manuals or blueprints available.

### The Importance of Commitment and Confidence

The host emphasizes the importance of commitment and confidence when navigating volatile crypto markets. He argues that while it's important not to "marry" one's investments, there is value in maintaining conviction in the underlying technology and vision. Markets will inevitably rattle investors, but the host believes that if you believe in the long-term potential, you should be willing to back it.

### The Limitations of Layer-1 Blockchains

The host delves into the limitations of layer-1 blockchains, particularly when it comes to scalability and fees. He suggests that as layer-1 networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum scale to support greater adoption, the fees will become astronomical and unusable for everyday transactions. This, he argues, will necessitate the use of side-chains, which may struggle to maintain decentralization if the base layer is slow.

### The Advantages of a Scalable, Censorship-Resistant Layer-1

In contrast, the host proposes that a scalable, censorship-resistant layer-1 blockchain like Hive can enable more efficient and decentralized side-chains. He argues that the key is to have a fast, reliable base layer that can support a high volume of transactions without prohibitive fees. This, combined with a focus on censorship resistance, is crucial for building a truly decentralized Web3 ecosystem.

### The Limitations of Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS)

The host acknowledges that DPoS, the consensus mechanism used by Hive, is often misunderstood and criticized. However, he argues that when implemented correctly, DPoS can provide a high degree of decentralization and censorship resistance, without sacrificing scalability. He emphasizes that the goal should be to achieve the right balance, rather than pursuing decentralization for its own sake.

### The Importance of Token Distribution and Governance

The host emphasizes the importance of maintaining a healthy, distributed token supply and governance model. He suggests that centralized token distributions and poor governance structures are major vulnerabilities in many crypto projects. In contrast, Hive's approach to token distribution and its transparent, community-driven governance are key strengths.

### The Future of Decentralized Finance and Web3

Looking ahead, the host believes that as the crypto market matures, the focus will shift from speculation to utility and user experience. He predicts that centralized entities like banks and large institutions will likely dominate the side-chain landscape, offering a more seamless user experience than decentralized alternatives. However, he remains confident that a scalable, censorship-resistant layer-1 like Hive will be essential for maintaining true decentralization and user sovereignty in the long run.

I am really new to this world, and it is surprising to see how memes coin was bought by many people new to the ecosystem, and no doubt many lost money when they saw their balance in red they sold their spot balance "in order to stop losing",also many were over leveraged, both in banks and trader accounts without having knowledge on the subject of crypto🀐 volatility.
Also the nft have had good boom in the market ,let's see what happens in the long term I see future in that nft and to the hive network has great potential .
I really liked this hive network and hope to contribute a lot in this network. Greetings and blessings.

In poker I came from a weak/tight background, so I was always trying to minimize my losses to avoid tilt. Deviating from that strategy always ended in me getting wrecked. I ended up getting really good at baiting people into bluffing me because I was so tight. Pretty boring way to play but extremely low volatility.

Yeah that's definitely the best way to play to maintain unpredictability and stop other players from getting a read on you. Such crazy volatility. Very Gus Hansen.

What can I say, this is the **Elon era** buy the hype, "hope for millions". The truth is, I think it's a phase in the present day crypto and we have more people hoping in not because they love crypto but because their favourite tech guru is giving them the financial advise. This isn't adoption, I mean not by the natural process. Not that it really matters but then the right way to go Into crypto in my opinion is to know the risks before being filled with the fantasies of the reward I guess it helps functions as a shock absorber when things aren't really going right.

Great video as always. Loved the quote "Utility does not give a fuck about your feelings"

I would argue that most apps on hive will NOT use smart contracts in the future. Not even run on a sidechain.

People will just open source the code of their dapps, keep it centralized, and publish all the ownership actions in their app to the hive blockchain.

This makes ownership verifiable, and for lightweight games like splinterlands that's all you need.

If the game developers fuck up and start stealing assets from everyone, people can "fork" the game and go back to the previous version that respects the original rules of the game.

I can see a future where games go through fork wars and multiple versions are being played simultaneously. There's no need to make everything 100% secure and decentralized, when you can just verify that it is running smoothly.

Bitcoin is trustless. No other crypto can compete with that and scale.

Instead, the goal should be to scale, trust, but verify.

Nice voice sir even though there were some disturbance, don't know if it's my ear phone πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ but I got your message and I must say it's kind of you to take out time to make a video to explain hodling.

I've been learning about the cryptoverse and I plan on learning more from every possible way like this to grow my knowledge about it all.

Like you said, it took you so much time to learn all you know now. I will surely get there some day πŸ™ˆ

Thanks for the video, well done πŸ‘

@remenzer ·
Fantastic voice, great ideas presentation. I genuinely listened to your presentation to the end. I'm bought some shitcoin in the hopes of a quick moon. I believe it is a gamble. I prefer hive and cardano for hodl. I'm trying to find a means to expand my portfolio. After this current life conflict is over, I'm planning to put more effort towards growing my portfolio, particularly in hive and Cardano. But that's just my opinion, what do you think?. I'm still a baby in this digital cryto world tho.

Fantastic perspective here. Key takeaways in my opinion:

1. People tend to buy blindly, and only do research when losses occur. I personally don't recommend this.

2. If you believe in something, really truly back it and give it your all, even if it 'fails.' Don't limit how high we can jump. I love it.

3. Significant 'innate' tendencies towards centralization exist, whether sidechains or what have you, and it's wise to acknowledge this and it shall be shown as global adoption scales up. (ie: "Banks already have everybody" and can win off of delivering superior user experiences for less.)

4. Decentralization isn't the 'goal', it's like 'space', it could decentralize forever. Centralization is always more efficient, so it's best to find a balance.

5. VCs are much more interested in centralized chains for a *reason.*

6. Very likely that most people will jump on Chase in the end.

7. Important criteria = A) scaled base-layer, B) censorship-resistance. Hive meets these.

8. "Utility doesn't give a f**k" about your feelings. :)

I appreciate you sharing all these thoughts, @theycallmedan , and you've clearly given it deep consideration. I got a lot of value here and it gave me a lot to think about. Thanks for sharing. πŸ™
