I watched the video and something struck me, something I hadn't thought of before, and I'm glad I watched it because I’m truly grateful.

Before now, I used to get angry whenever someone offended me, and I think this applies to everyone as well because we are humans, and our emotions are natural. In fact, I still get angry whenever someone offends me. However, in the end, I am expected not to let the anger last for long and to forgive the person.

This sermon directed me to a spot in the Bible which I had been reading casually before. It’s the book of Matthew 6:14, which says that if we forgive our offenders, our Heavenly Father will forgive us.

Now, the sermon explained it in a way I had never thought of before, and that is, when people offend us, it is actually an opportunity to be forgiven by God. Because at that moment, we are meant to forgive our offenders, and by so doing, we get the chance to be forgiven by God. Did you get it? I love the scenario so much!

We are encouraged not to neglect forgiving others because it is a chance for God to forgive us as well. Whenever someone offends us, no lies—yes, we are humans, and our emotions will surely come into play—but we are encouraged not to allow our emotions to control us and override forgiveness.

Forgiveness is a paramount duty for Christians, and we are bound to do that always.

This is a changed mindset for me. A better understanding has come to me. Whenever I'm provoked or offended, I will no longer find it difficult to forgive others. Rather, I will grab the opportunity because it’s a means for me to be forgiven by God for my sins.

You know, provocation and offenses are acts that are bound to happen in everyone’s life as long as the person is alive. So whenever they happen, we should forgive quickly in order to be forgiven by God.
