**Day 2 - Filter**

I got inspired by @rubencress and his "30 day not-so ordinary ordinary items challenge" but as I love giving things a personal twist, I decided to change the format a bit for myself so it suits me better. I've adjusted it to the 30 pictures - 30 stories challenge. But some days you will see that I also use not-so ordinary ordinary objects.

Publish one picture a day during 30 days and write a story about that picture. This can be anything, any object in the home, a person, scenery or a pet. I'm going to share a diversity of pictures and challenge myself to step outside of the box.

Today I picked an item for the challenge. In case you're wondering, it's a filter for our vacuum cleaner. Maybe it's a bit of a weird choice to write about but of course the word filter has double meaning. I could partially write about this filter being needed as our old one needed to be replaced. These are the type of things that I tend to forget and then at some point, it's really needed and I have to rush order it to be able to keep using the vacuum cleaner. Thankfully, this time I was in luck as I ordered it from Amazon with a next day delivery under 3 euros. Great! So today I received two brand new filters, meaning we can throw the old one in the bin finally. It also means that next time I don't have to worry about being late and rush ordering it anymore because I have a spare one now. 

But then there is this other way of using the word filter, namely the figurative speech instead of literal meaning. I can related when someone says "You don't have a filter", not because I didn't have an actual filter but because I sometimes have to swallow my words as I tend to spit out my thoughts and not always take into account who can handle that or not. I do believe I made good progress being more careful with that over the past years, but that wasn't always the case. 

And then we have the photography filters left, for example the monochrome filter I used here today when taking this picture. I have learned that a lot of pictures come out much better in monochrome lately. My phone camera (Huawei P30 Pro) is just not what it was anymore and I try to be creative so that I can remain happy with the results. Currently monochrome is a filter working well for me.
