We're still at the well in Samaria. When the disciples return They're pretty amazed to see Jesus chatting away with the Samaritan woman. It was bad enough she was a Samaritan, but the fact she was a woman made it even worse. You see, the prejudice against women was pretty strong back then. In fact, the rabbis even had a saying that went, "It's better to burn the law than give it to women." Not nice. Interestingly enough, despite all the knocks it gets from the world, Christianity has done more to free woman from this second rate citizen mentality than all the current women's movements together. In fact, the New Testament teaches this radical concept.
