they do indeed swim

Grizzly bears are amazingly powerful animals and are by all means impressive to admire in their natural world.  A lot of people I have talked to about bears over the years seem to think that these animals can't swim.  Well, they can swim very well indeed. They are known to swim between Islands along the west coast of Canada and have been rumoured to swim to Vancouver Island from the mainland from time to time.

I have heard of reports of Grizzly bears on Vancouver Island however authorities are always quick to dismiss such reports. They are more than happy to claim that there are no Grizzly Bears on Vancouver Island. However, after working around these animals for the time I have and having worked with a few bear experts over the years on thing has become clear. Never right them off, these animals are capable of incredible feats.  To put in plainly I am very confident that Grizzly bears have and still do indeed from time to time reach the shores of Vancouver Island.  Basically, at the end of the day always be bear safe when you are in bear country.
