Home Organization Hacks: Tips for decluttering, organizing, and creating functional spaces
If you live with children, either yours or a friend's or maybe pets, you know that you house can go from perfect to a complete disaster in seconds. it is futile trying to stop this from happening, however, to ensure your house is not always a hot mess, you have to be on your guard or strategic in keeping the home clean and tidy

The best way to keep things tidy is honestly to clean immediately or tidy immediately. It may be hard at first, but you will thank me later. I am not saying you should not have time for any other thing, but if you notice a toy sitting on the kitchen floor, you can just pick it up on your way out and keep it where it should be.

It will feel less like a chore if you don't think of it as such a tasking thing. Another thing to do immediately is laundry and your dishes. Please do not keep those for too long. The more you pile, the more work you will have to do later.

We all love decorating, the chance of setting up a space just the way you like it, but with children, you should be thinking of safety, and efficiency. When we just got married, my husband and I got a fancy glass table that was so light and could shatter with too much weight, so one of the first things we did when our son started crawling was to move the table to an empty room and replace it with a leather coated ottoman just like the one here.

Now, Decluttering is not exclusive to mothers, everyone experiences this messy stress at least once weekly. There is a certain joy I feel when I clear my mess, it's one of the nicest feelings ever. I have read that an efficient way to declutter is to prepare and this can be tough when your day is unpredictable. One hack is to use your free time to declutter. If you cannot predict the time, you can set a day at least once weekly for that. I find that night time works best for me, even though I am not a night owl, I do the best I can given the situation lol.

If there is a lot to be done, it is easy to get overwhelmed and at the end of the day, you might not get anything done. I recommend getting just one thing done at a time, so if your toilet requires cleaning and your windows are dusty as well, pick just one thing to do; do things one day at a time. a Hausa adage says "aikin gida ba ya karewa" which means house chores never gets completely done. No matter how much you do today, there will definitely be something to be done tomorrow, so do the best you can today.

Now one very hard part of decluttering is letting go of things wit sentimental value, but recently, I have learnt to let go of things I feel others need more than I do. I still hold on to things of course, but not as I used to. If you have clothes you have not worn for years just because they remind you of someone, maybe try giving some out and keep one or two pieces, that way you will be helping someone out and making your space look tidy too.
