As someone who’s scared of heights, I prefer to travel by train but I traveled to Lagos state Nigeria for the first time in March this year and I had to fly. It was totally impromptu but I had to go because it was an opportunity to meet my boss physically; whom I had been working for since 2021. She was coming from Missouri to bury her dad who passed early this year and thought it would be great to meet. I thought so too, but I had a 5 month old baby and I had never been in an airplane. To top it all, I was not financially ready for such a journey and I didn’t want to burden her with the responsibility of covering my expenses since she already had a lot on her plate. I eventually had to ask for my airfare because I didn’t have any money at the time (plus I was hoping she would decide to let me stay back). She immediately paid for my ticket and it was confirmed, I’m going on a plane😬.

I immediately started getting ready, got my hair done after a very long time 🙊


I couldn’t get an affordable flight from Kaduna to Lagos, so I had to travel to Abuja first by road or train. The train was not an option as at that time because of the kidnapping going 
on, the road was fairly safe so I went by road with my baby. 
A journey of 2  hours turned out to be 4 because of bad roads and a faulty commercial vehicle. 


I eventually got to the airport and even took some pictures close to the airplane before I boarded, that was when I began to panic. 


The take-off was rough, I tried to act cool though, but there was a battle waging inside of me. I almost began to cry then I looked at my baby and saw how peaceful she was, it didn’t matter again that I was thousands of feet away from the ground, this girl felt safe, and I could feel safe that I had God watching and holding me too. So I relaxed. There’s so much to write about my trip to Lagos, but I’ll let pictures and videos do the talking. So heres my Lagos State experience in pictures!

Lagos is a crazy city. It's humid like the rest of Nigeria, but the people tend to make a lot of noise. I don't know if I would ever want to live in that city. I got back home safe though, and who knows, I might fly somewhere soon.

Good for you. You overcame many challenges and fears to make that flight. It took a great deal of courage to make that trip and you should be proud. I do hope your boss has an appreciation for what you went through to make the trip.

It must be very nice the view of Lagos from the window of the plane at high altitude, after all it was worth it to be brave and get on that plane, your pictures are very nice.
