 The majority of people are drones—NPCs, or non-player characters. They do not desire freedom nor would they know what to do with freedom if they had it. In fact, most people would be *terrified* of freedom—it would drive them mad. They need the structure of an authority telling them what to do. In a communist system, they become drones working for the state. In a capitalist system, they become drones working for a corporation (or the state). It’s not that they are necessarily happy to do that—though some are. But they are not necessarily *un*happy either—or they may be unhappy but not because they lack liberty. They’re perfectly content to work as a drone if they have an adequately satisfactory family and social life. The ideal system for society may not be complete freedom for *all* individuals because most individuals do not want complete freedom. They cannot *handle* complete freedom. In modern American society (pre-Covid at least), everybody has the chance to be an entrepreneur and work for themselves, but most do not. They *choose* to work as drones for the state or corporations. Because it's the safe and easy thing to do. The ideal societal system would allow complete freedom for those who want it—free thinkers and entrepreneurs—they should be able to have the absolute freedom and individual sovereignty they desire. Those who want liberty should be able to have as much liberty as possible. But ultimate freedom is not conducive for all. The rest of the NPCs need someone or something to tell them what to do.
