In Venezuela and all Latin America lives this rodent, the largest in the world. The Chiguire is also known as Capybara or Capybara. They usually live in the plains or near rivers and lakes.  Its meat, although a bit gritty for my taste, is consumed during the Easter week season, due to its fish-like flavor. This meat consumption occurs in the regions near the places where these animals are raised. In the capital city, where I have lived for more than 20 years, I have never seen chiguire meat.  On the other hand the word Chiguire is used in my country to define a naive or easily manipulated person. We also have a satirical journalism portal called "El Chiguire Bipolar", a name that is very funny to me and that I remembered with a lot of insistence while I was making this amigurumi project. After this preamble, you will already know that my project is a Chiguire, but not a bipolar or naive one. It is an engineer chiguire. At this point you may be wondering, but who ordered to make a chiguire engineer: love. Yes, the love of a girl for her boyfriend who has a birthday. It turns out that this pair of lovebirds affectionately call each other chiguirita or chiguirito.  The request was very specific, "I want an engineer chiguire, because my boyfriend is an engineer and he has a birthday" Love is definitely a beautiful thing, especially at the age of this pair of guys, who are at the height of their youth.  For my part the word chiguire doesn't bring back good memories. My brother, in our childhood - you know kids are cruel -, made a combination of Chiguire with my name and it resulted in the nickname: "Tibuira". I hated them for a long time, my brother and the nickname. Today we are reconciled, yes, both with my brother and the nickname. In retrospect, I believe that the chiguire is a beautiful animal that is part of who we are as Venezuelans. It is an animal that represents the plains and today, thanks to a preservation movement, it is being rescued from extinction.  I made the chiguire in light brown for the body and dark brown for the legs, ears and nose. I used half stitches. I don't work with a pattern so I knitted as I saw fit until I found the desired shape. Every time I knit I remember that I should start making patterns, but what a laziness to be writing down the stitches I did per round. Someday I will do it ...I think.  For the helmet I used white yarn and knit it as close as possible to a safety helmet. I knitted the safety vest in yellow and white. As a touch of identity I put the label of my personal brand: Only_Amigurumis. The eyes are a pair of cute buttons that I got in a jewelry store.  The amigurumi was delivered to the bride. Por otra parte la palabra Chiguire es utilizada en mi país para definir a una persona ingenua o fácilmente manipulable. También tenemos un portal de periodismo satírico llamado “El Chiguire Bipolar”, nombre que me causa mucha gracia y que recordé con mucha insistencia mientras hacia este proyecto de amigurumi. Luego de este preámbulo, ya sabrás que mi proyecto es un Chiguire, pero no bipolar o ingenuo. Es un chiguire ingeniero. En este momento te preguntarás, pero, quien mandó a hacer un chiguire ingeniero: el amor. Si el amor de una chica por su novio quien cumple años. Resulta que este par de tortolos, se dicen cariñosamente chiguirita o chiguirito.  El pedido fue muy puntual, “quiero un chiguire ingeniero, pues mi novio es ingeniero y cumple años” El amor definitivamente es una cosa hermosa, sobre todo a la edad de este par de chicos, que están en pleno apogeo de su juventud.  Por mi parte la palabra chiguire no me trae buenos recuerdos. Mi hermano, en nuestra infancia - sabes que los niños son crueles -, hizo una combinación de Chiguire con mi nombre y resultó el apodo: “Tibuira”. Los odie por mucho tiempo, a mi hermano y al apodo. Hoy en día estamos reconciliados, si, tanto con mi hermano como con el apodo. En retrospectiva creo que el chiguire es un animal hermoso, que forma parte de lo que somos como venezolanos. Es un animal que representa a los llanos y hoy en día gracias a un movimiento de preservación, se está rescatando de su extinción.  El chiguire lo hice en color marrón claro, para el cuerpo y marrón oscuro para las patas, orejas y nariz. Utilicé medio puntos. No trabajo con patrón así que fui tejiendo como consideré hasta dar con la forma deseada. Cada vez que tejo recuerdo que debo comenzar a hacer patrones, pero que flojera estar escribiendo los puntos que hice por vuelta. Algún día lo hare …creo.  Para el casco utilicé hilo blanco y lo tejí lo más parecido posible a un casco de seguridad. El chaleco de seguridad lo tejí en amarillo y blanco. Como toque de identidad le coloqué la etiqueta de mi marca personal : Only_Amigurumis. Los ojos son un par de botones muy lindos que conseguí en una tienda de bisutería.
