## This is the second novel I read by the Chilean writer Isabel Allende and the first novel I read digitally.  Although I missed the smell of the pages of the book being turned and the light of the cell phone often left incandescent glows in my eyes, reading books digitally is a very good tool when we do not have time to carry one and we travel or are in waiting rooms. ### Isabel Allende has suddenly become one of my favorite writers. I really appreciate the light, entertaining and even funny way she tells her stories, charged with a lot of emotion, imagination and truth. Violet, I believe, is one of her latest novels. I really liked the connection between her birth and her death: an epidemic. Yes, Violeta was born in the middle of the Spanish flu pandemic and died in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. In between, that is, those 100 years of separation, there is a whole life with its ups and downs. The novel talks about the experiences of a woman from the very moment of her birth, her adolescence, the prosperous life while her father lived, the event that changed her life at the young age of 10 and the abrupt fall of a family that had everything, to then live in exile, in a remote part of their country, a place where they were not known, however they were received with much love by a family that sheltered them as part of their own.  In the novel we see that Violeta is a woman with a strong and very determined character. Very intelligent and with a great capacity for business, which gave her throughout her life sources of income that kept her in a good social status. She also talks about her love experiences, her successes and failures. Her need to be in the company of a man who mistreated her. She knew it, she fought for a long time against this violence. She was emotionally dependent on that man, who from my point of view was a truhan. Her busy life took her away from the most important people in her life: her two children. Both had a twisted life due to lack of direction, which triggered the rupture of the mother-son relationship and finally the separation. From my point of view the great loser of the most wonderful love a mother has was precisely Violeta. She compensated for the abandonment and early separation of her children with the education of her grandson, whom she received in her arms as a newborn and dedicated all her time, love and care to him. Her grandson, by the way, his name is Camilo, apparently had a personality and character very similar to that of his grandmother, so that there were loving confrontations between the two. She learned that in a family relationship you face problems, you don't run away from them. **In conclusion**, it is the story of a woman with her desires, dreams, passions, failures, breakups and beginnings. A story similar to yours and mine. Told with such freshness that we come to think that we are part of the novel. Aunque extrañé el olor de las hojas del libro al ser pasadas y la luz del celular muchas veces me dejó brillos incandescentes en mis ojos, leer libros vía digital es una muy buena herramienta cuando no tenemos tiempo de cargar con uno y viajamos o estamos en salas de espera. #### Isabel Allende se ha convertido de repente en una de mis escritoras favoritas. Aprecio mucho la forma ligera, amena y hasta divertida de contar sus historias, cargadas de mucha emoción, imaginación y verdad. Violeta, creo que es una de sus últimas novelas. Me gustó mucho la relación que hay entre su nacimiento y su muerte: una epidemia. Si, Violeta nació en plena pandemia de la gripe española y murió en plena pandemia del coronavirus. En el intermedio, es decir, esos 100 años de separación hay toda una vida con sus altos y bajos. La novela habla sobre las experiencias de una mujer desde el momento mismo de su nacimiento, su adolescencia, la vida prospera mientras vivió su padre, el acontecimiento que cambió su vida a la corta edad de 10 años y la caída abrupta de una familia que lo tenía todo, para luego vivir desterrados, en un lugar recóndito de su país, un lugar donde no eran conocidos, sin embargo fueron recibidos con mucho amor por una familia que los cobijo como parte de la suya.  En la novela vemos que Violeta es una mujer con un carácter fuerte y muy decidido. Muy inteligente y con mucha capacidad para los negocios, lo que le dio a lo largo de su vida fuentes de ingresos que la mantuvieron en un buen estatus social. También habla de sus experiencias amorosas, sus éxitos y sus fracasos. Su necesidad de estar en compañía de un hombre que la maltrataba. Ella lo sabía, lucho mucho tiempo contra esa violencia. Ella tenía dependencia emocional de ese hombre, que desde mi punto de vista era un truhan. Su vida ajetreada, la alejó de los seres más importantes en su vida: sus dos hijos. Ambos tuvieron una vida retorcida por la falta de dirección, lo que desencadenó la ruptura de la relación madre-hijo y finalmente la separación. Desde mi punto de vista la gran perdedora del amor más maravilloso que tiene una madre fue precisamente Violeta. El abandono y separación temprana de sus hijos lo compensó con la educación de su nieto, a quien recibió en sus brazos, recién nacido y le dedicó todo su tiempo, su amor y su cuidado. Su nieto, por cierto, él se llama Camilo, al parecer tenía una personalidad y carácter muy parecidos al de su abuela, así que ocurrieron enfrentamientos amorosos entre los dos. Ella aprendió que en la relación de familia se afrontan los problemas, no se huyen de ellos. **En conclusión**, es la historia de una mujer con sus deseos, sueños, pasiones, fracasos, rupturas y recomienzos. Una historia parecida a la tuya y a la mía. Contada con tanta frescura que llegamos a pensar que somos parte de la novela.
