Much has been written about October 12, 1498.
Multiple names have been given to the commemoration of this day.
"Columbus Day", "Meeting of 2 Worlds",etc.

But today I have given myself to meditate on what the next day was really like, once I reached a happy end of such a significant adventure.

It is not unreasonable to think that the endless sea voyage must have been a devastating experience.

It is easy to imagine, for me, the great relief that the crew of the boats must have felt on the verge of being mutilated (at least) by a disproportionate mutiny that threatened the lives of those responsible for the trip.

So it would not be far from reality to venture to say that the next day was conceived as "A New Beginning".
