过去人们总说年纪大了，其实吃太多的蛋白质不好，接着就会把话题转移到了吃肉上面，所以似乎很多的老人就选择慢慢的变成了素食主义者，长年不吃肉，甚至是60多岁了身体特别好，身体没有什么大的毛病，高血压又是高血脂的都不要找上门来。 于是就开始流传吃肉不好的观点了，一些人觉得吃肉就会危害地球，甚至还有人觉得吃肉会导致碳排放量增加或者是吃肉导致了身体不健康。其实不吃肉或者是吃肉并没有那么重要，吃肉人们总觉得是导致了各种疾病的根源；其实没有那么一种说法，对于反过来也没有绝对的健康吃法，吃素也不一定才是健康的。 人类之所以发展出智能的世界很大一部分的原因也是取决于人们吃肉的问题上，肉食对于人类的营养、生存还有脑力的发展都有着举足轻重的作用，并且肉类食品还要举着各种丰富的营养，蛋白质补充身体每日需求来源，要有肉类也是人类蛋白质、矿物质和维生素的重要来源之一。 说起来肉类的营养价值确实非常之高，不仅含有了各种人体所需要的氨基酸，这种营养价值极其高，并且还有很多优质的蛋白质成分，甚至是包含了各种营养的微量元素，并且有着各种研究发现吃肉和各种疾病的关系；结果得出了简单来说科学上并没有证据证明吃肉就会不健康吃素就会健康，科学的摄取肉类才是保持健康的关键。
