Last week of August. On the first of September, I go to work. Have I already said that I will have a new job? More precisely, a new old job? No? Then I'm talking now. Yes, I'm returning to the position of law lecturer. More precisely, an associate professor. So my life will change significantly.
After a seven-year break, I decided to do it. It was a difficult decision, because my dogs are used to being at home with them all the time. But you'll agree, it can't go on like this anymore. Like any person, I need communication. After all, my dogs are not the only ones in the world who will have to wait for their man from work. And I won't go there every day. This is a huge advantage of working in the academic field.
But so far I'm very nervous. I don't really understand how I can organise everything and cope with everything. But the main thing is that I'm sure I'll manage.
I have one week left to complete all the work. And there are a lot of them left. This is repair in the workshop, repair of the car (without it I just won't get to the place of work), finish the article for the editorial, update the material on two (at least) lectures, think about how to settle the dogs in the rooms during my absence. In addition, I need to buy a lot of things, including noise insulation curtains on the windows and additional tracking cameras. So I'll be able to watch my dogs while I'm away. This is an important point. Fortunately, my friend lives near us and if something happens during my absence, she will be able to come quickly.
I'm a little scared. I left my job seven years ago was forced. Then I was going through a divorce and because of the large number of animals I could no longer go to work. It was a difficult time for me. Very difficult. I found myself in a vicious circle. I couldn't go to work because of the animals, but without a job I didn't have the means to support them. Of course, gradually everything got better. First I found a remote job. And then covid started... It sounds paradoxical, but it saved me because there was more remote work. Many remote projects are still working even after the end of the epidemic. But now there will be a new problem. I have to work in an environment of constant air alarms due to the war.
I have to say it's very strange. On the one hand, the epidemic has become a real test for many people. But, on the other hand, this forced the whole world to refocus on a new format of work and do it quickly. And this has opened up many new opportunities for work and learning. That's the paradox...
Despite everything, I'm optimistic. I want to note that the development of AI has opened up huge opportunities for creating illustrative materials that can be used in the preparation of lecture presentations. Seven years ago I could only dream about it, and now it has become a reality. I hope my work will take place at a new technical level. It promises to be very interesting.
