In life, everything is a risk. Traveling by road, air or sea or doing business all are fraught with risks. A risk is simply the acceptance of uncertainty and failure, that comes with any situation or venture.

If you travel by road, you might be hit by a car; if you stay in your house, a plane might land on your house; if you go into business, you might be scammed and if you don't, you may remain poor. None of us can completely avoid every risk.

Taking risks is very good. Without risks, one may never breakthrough or do exploit but aside all these things mentioned, there’s a difference between taking risks and being foolish.

When you risk something that is ill-timed, ill-thought, ill-considered or done without any sort of information, planning, or investigation then you're just being foolish. Risk has reward when it is well estimated. Foolishness is primarily deficiency in planning. 

Foolishness however is knowing the outcome of something is 10% success and 90% failure yet you dabble into it. Foolishness is  when you take the same risk over and over again where you had failed before under similar circumstances.

Today, people die not because they take but because they are being foolish. Imagine a motor driver traveling with a faulty brake when he knows fit well that it could claim his life. Many people say taking risk is just like you're being foolish but I completely disagree with that. 

In summary, even though you’re committed to taking leaps of faith in doing certain things, always take your time to weigh each individual risk on its own merits. Do not act foolishly and call yourself a risk taker
