I work at a software company , and our sister company which is down the hall told me that someone hacked into there system and threatened to delete all clients information that was stored unless they sent 10,000 dollars worth of bitcoins to their address. we sent it :( Terrible use for bitcoin SMH

That's not BTC's fault. If you have such issues, your security systems are faulty in the first place. And if that company has $10k, they definitely have the resources to actually secure their stuff.
