It is happening now whether we want it or not. Due to the limitations that the covid implemented to the majority of people somehow work arrangements are being transitioned to some flexible terms. We also need to consider this new generation has a multitude of opportunities for them to earn thanks to the internet. Imagine a 9-year-old person exposed to the blogging industry already and earning cryptocurrency already at a young age. I think I was playing with dirt and sand during those times imagining how to release a **ray gun** on the tip of my pointer finger just like Yusuke in Yuyu Hakusho. <center> </center> Now going back as some may have noticed freelancing sites such as [Upwork](https://upwork.com/), [Fiverr](https://www.fiverr.com/) and other sites are rampant nowadays. Here in the Philippines multiple call center agents are switching to such platforms as they are able to get a good amount of money plus they will have the leisure time as it doesn't require them to be in the office for more than 8 hours which is the regular shift. Blockchain technologies are constantly evolving nowadays though some are seeing it as not profitable before due to this bear market season we can all agree that slowly it is being integrated into our lives, especially Web 3.0 ## Why people are embracing this economy now? Aside from the increase of opportunities online, some people are embracing it because it gives them a chance to do what they want to do. Imagine, taking a course in college that you don't like but need to complete to get a stable 9-5 job in the future. Some dreams are shattered because of that and passion is set aside. I have seen some people who become successful in this field that left their corporate job to pursue what they want to do. Plus somehow they get their life back. Imagine being stuck in traffic for more than 2 to 3 hours because you need to report? I had experienced such multiple times and the experience isn't lovely. ## Are there dangers for this economy? For sure there is, one that I can see is the volatility of tokens that you receive as payment. Imagine yourself working on a gig/ task for a couple of hours for a token equivalent to $10.00. You haven't converted it into fiat and after a few days as the market crashes it went down to $5.00 or lower do you think the earnings that you get are enough? For it is not. Also, you will need to include the idea that there's a huge chance that you may not get paid and the contractor will run after you completed such a task. As personal details are not saved/ mandatory since mostly it isn't regulated some will find a way to trick other people because of that. ## How Hive is doing its part in this gig-based economy? Some people not only earn money through writing posts and curating content. There are some that I saw before getting paid by developing bots, marketing certain dapps, and trading tokens. As a typical user, I am able to earn money here too as a content creator though I can't say that it will replace my corporate job for now the earnings that I am getting are enough to cover some of the unwanted expenses that I had to incur in the past. More often than not it is peer-to-peer transactions that happen. Depending on what the discussion is the worker should at the very least secure a 50% deposit before working on a project. Posted Using [LeoFinance Beta](https://leofinance.io/@tpkidkai/re-brando28-py8h4)

> worker should at the very least secure a 50% deposit before working on a project. That's a good point, a guarantee like that should always be there or no work.
