Soylent

Soylent is a meal replacement drink, claiming to provide complete nutrition. The product originally came in an unflavored powder form, exclusively ordered online. Since the product’s creation in 2013, the brand has come a long way. There have been nine updates of the nutritional drink mix to the current date, each calibrating the ingredients and mix ratios.

The brand has had its ups and downs, as many start-ups experience while scaling up their operations. One main drawback of the drink is its “minimal” flavoring as its creator Rob Rhinehart describes the taste. Soylent surely is not marketed for its essence, rather its content and affordability. The drink provides 400 calories per 414mL serving: 21 grams of fat, 37 grams of Carbohydrate, and 20g of Protein. This provides the consumer 20% of their daily nutrition for only $2.69. For $13.45 per day, and no preparation time, soylent streamlines daily routines.

Currently the brand is sold in three versions; powdered, ready-to-drink, and Cafe. The newest additions offer flavoring, and bottled forms, making the product more appealing to the average consumer. Beginning in 2017, the brand is now sold in its bottled versions in 7-Eleven stores making the product more accessible to the public, especially if a customer prefers to sample the product before buying in bulk.

LOL yeah The product is named after a food in the 1966 science fiction novel "Make Room! Make Room!" By Harry Harrison, later adopted to the 1973 film Soylent Green.
