<html> <p> Not a rant. Not decrying missing features of a beta platform. Awesome! And it’s stuff I was hoping would eventually arrive. </p> <p><strong>Go the devs!</strong></p> <p>As a dev myself, and someone who works in the UX space, here are some small suggestions that might help new (and old) steemians along that path to Steem heaven. </p> <p>1 – there are some posts that are cool, some that are really cool, and some that are just awesome. But I can only vote the same amount for each post. I’d love a way to increase my vote value to the content creator. So apply the normal amount as per the current specs, but also give me an option <em>within the post</em> to send the content creator some love in the form of Steem, Steem Power, or Steem Dollars. I’m happy for the <em>extra </em>amount to come from <em>my </em>account. And maybe Steemit can reward those who reward others, in some way. </p> <p>2 – let me (and others) see what my normal vote contributes to a post’s earnings. Let me see how much good I’m doing! And give me hints and pointers on how to grow my value, so I can increase how much my vote is worth. At the moment it’s all a bit <em>black magic</em>. If I can see what someone else’s vote was worth in my post, maybe I’ll make an extra effort to try and contribute to their earnings as well. </p> <p>3 – give me a static list (that I can control) of tags / categories / topics so I can easily jump into my favourite ones, even when they aren’t particularly active or trending. </p> <p>4 – give us a page / section with lists of all the cool things that are happening with Steemit (not just where the currency is trading at either). It seems there are a lot of <em>very </em>creative and passionate people doing amazing stuff, but I only find out about it when I stumble onto it in someone’s post. Be proud of what you have created and are creating, and what the community is creating and <strong>tell us about it</strong>! But please not in a blog post that disappears overnight. </p> <p>5 – on a similar note, can you give us a page / section that explains what this is all about, the vision, road map, ethos, technical stuff, in a way an old man with a very small and tired brain can understand (the white paper is a bit dense for me, sorry). e.g. I’d really like to know – how do I build a site on the blockchain? What do I need to do? </p> <p>So there are my five suggestions for feature enhancements. Some may already be in the pipeline, some may already be implemented, but I don’t know about them, and others may not have been thought of. </p> <p>To the devs – I know what it’s like. I work in your world, and everyone thinks they have the solutions to problems that often don’t even exist. And they’re not shy about telling you to stay late at work, skip weekends, time with family and things outside your day-to-day job. </p> <p>So treat this as a pat on the back for all the good work you’ve done so far, and enthusiastic encouragement to keep up the good work, and making Steemit even better. But also, don’t forget to take time for yourselves and your families. If it takes a bit longer to implement some of the features, so be it. I’m happy to wait patiently for more good stuff to come. </p> </html>

The tipping feature is on the roadmap, AFAIK. As for the UX, yes, big problem. My biggest concern right now is stopping the payouts after 30 days. If there's a workaround for this, I'd be really happy.

Good points all of them. In addittion I would like to emphasize some of what you said. We need a better way to NAVIGATE. We need to be able to find what we want to see without spending a lot of time doing it. We need a FILTER. I want to be able NOT to see some "stuff". The sexual habits of (xxxx) are of no interest to me at all. Provide a means to filter it out with out Muteing the person who makes the post. A blind mouse finds an acorn on ocassion, a busted clock is right twice a day. Those who are enamoured with things of no interest to me in general..some TIMEs say something I want to hear. Legacy Steem Pool. Instead of 'burning steem' put it into a Legacy account an pay for any votes cast on a post BEYOND the last payout. Forever. (dunno how to determine the weight of the vote...that will be a problem for the DEVs to work out) Right hand I'd say that the only thing structural that FB and all the others have on us...is a better GUI. A better GUI...and promotion...should attract a LOT of new users. Make it FUN. Money should be just gravy.
