**Museum of Yugoslavia, exploring the long history of the former Yugoslavia**

**Hello dear travellers**
*What amazing places have you explored on holiday this summer?*
In my last posts here in the community I chose to share with you beautiful places around the capital of *Serbia*, today I would like to write one last post here (I hope you will like it and not bore you) one with a historical touch, as otherwise if you have visited my posts you will realize that I am a great lover of history and I love to discover places full of history.
Today we go together to see *the most visited museum in Serbia*, the *Museum of History of Yugoslavia*, an impressive museum, a museum that in my opinion for those who want to visit the capital of Serbia to put it on the short list of things to visit here.
And to this objective we arrived by car, I think is the fastest way, the museum does not have its own parking lot so we parked on the side of the road leading to the museum (do not worry there are enough parking spaces) about 200m from the entrance to the museum, from a few I saw near the museum is the Embassy of Iran in Serbia so the place is full of police, initially I panicked a little when I saw so many police but after a few steps I managed to figure out why.
In a few minutes we were already at the museum's cashier paying the fee of about 3euro/person.

**Who is the former Yugoslavia?**
After the Second World War, the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was born in 1963.
It consisted of Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia.
The capital of Yugoslavia then as now is Belgrade.
Yugoslavia had the strongest leader, Josip Broz Tito, he held very important positions before, I wrote that he was the strongest leader because in 1974 he was appointed president for life, he died at the age of 88.

With great curiosity we started visiting the museum, from the information we got at the entrance and from the informative panoramas we found out that the museum is divided into three locations, the first one we chose to start with was the **25 May Museum**, the second one is the **Old Museum** and the third one is the **House of Flowers**.
Let's start with the first museum, **the 25 May Museum**, after a few minutes spent here I can't say that I was very impressed, here you can find a lot of objects, documents that belonged to the president, even if there are thousands of each you will find information about them in both the Serbian and English languages.
So we slowly made our way to the **House of Flowers** through an amazing courtyard, with lots of greenery, extremely well maintained, lots of flowers, trees, among the alleys crossing the museum park we came across the famous statue of Tito (even the statue gives you the feeling of a team, as if you don't want to look at it) after which we entered, here I can say I was impressed.
As soon as you walk through a hallway, the mausoleum of Tito and his wife (he had four wives) appears in front of you, I can't explain the feeling I had when I touched that piece of marble, knowing that there rests probably the only president appointed for life in the world.
If you know of any other presidents appointed for life, please write (I am very curious if this situation exists elsewhere in the world).
Here I spent a little more time, because I read more information about the president, also here I had the opportunity to see one of his offices.
We go on to visit the last museum, **the 25 May Museum**, it is similar to some museums in Romania, namely here are exhibited many gifts received by the President of Yugoslavia.
Here again we spent some more time because there are so many exhibits, but here as in the other museums each exhibit has an information panel in both Serbian and English.
**In conclusion I will tell you what I liked about this place:**
*1.All objects are very well preserved and very well displayed.*
*2.All exhibits have information panels in both English and Serbian.*
*3.The staff is very respectful.*
*4.At the entrance of the museum I found a notebook where I could write a few words, as I felt at that moment.*
*5.Access to so much history is done by paying a very low price, if you decide to leave there with a souvenir its price is also very low.*
