**We conquered the 7 Stairs Canyon in Piatra Mare Mountains, Brasov county** > *The best view comes after the hardest climb.* **Sir Edmund Hillary**  **Hello travellers from around the world** I hope you are well, ready to explore as many amazing places as possible. Romania by its geographical position has both sea and mountains, we have so many beautiful places waiting to be quietly explored, personally I must admit that I am a fan of nature walks, but I have never done very long hikes, this is also because I have no physical condition (working day after day at the office that slowly turns us into tired robots, he he). Since I brought up hiking on my list of possible future nature trips, I have a few spectacular places that I haven't really had the courage to do so far, because of the effort that has to be put in, here I mean hikes of several hours that demand the maximum of our body. Every time I look in my diary and see 4-7 hour round-trip nature hikes, nature, walking, fresh air, lots of greenery listed there, I sit for a while and think about whether or not to schedule such a trip. This has happened to me a few times, so one evening I decided that one weekend I would book a hotel room for two nights and on one of the days take a hike to a magical place. This is how the idea of conquering the 7 Stairs Canyon in the Piatra Mare Mountains in Brasov county was born. Before taking this decision I informed myself very well, that is I read a lot of reviews to see if I would be able to cope with the physical demands especially since my wife was with me. We stayed at a very nice hotel about 50 km away. Knowing that the duration of the route is quite long I left the hotel quite early in the morning, I was lucky that it was not crowded the way there, but when I arrived in the area somewhere around 10 o'clock, all the parking lots there were occupied, so I had to park 400 meters away, I really had nothing to do. I left the car in the parking lot, equipped with my backpack in the back, I took off at a walk towards the canyon. I must tell you that access to the canyon is forbidden by car or any other vehicle, including ATV, in this sense on the forest road is mounted a barrier and sign indicating prohibited access. Just before the barrier I found a fast food restaurant, peeking at the food there I noticed that they made doughnuts, I said clearly, I have to eat some to get power, hehe.  In the backpack I put some food and a few bottles of water for the trip. Today's adventure begins on a forest road, in one part of the road flows smoothly the stream Șipoaiei, along the road in the shade of the trees were tourists sitting down on the grass to relax, we continued our way that at one point entered the forest.         So easy we start the climb of medium difficulty, we crossed several times a creek over some logs, and we had to follow the yellow line marker, in the second part of the trail we found resting places, where you could rest.   We had already been walking for more than 1:30, the scenery through the forest is fairytale (if I had to explain what an amazing feeling we had walking through the forest I would have to talk for two hours), if outside it was 27 degrees inside the forest it did not exceed 23, a temperature only good for hiking.                                           Arriving in a clearing we came across a hut made of wood barrels, here we had to pay the fee to visit the canyon and there is also a place to rest. **Canyon Entrance Fee and Operating Schedule** The fee for visiting the canyon for adults is 10lei/2euro and for children is 5lei/1euro, there is no photo or video fee, if you want some adrenaline you can also pay here the fee for the zipline which is 100lei/20euro/for the whole route or 70lei/14euro/for half of the route. The zipline and the 7 Stairs Canyon operate daily from 10 am to 6 pm, their schedule may change depending on weather conditions.  At the hut where we paid the entrance fee to the canyon we were given a green bracelet that we had to wear for the duration of our presence there and we were made aware of a few rules that we had to follow during the ascent through the canyon.   If before starting the ascent in the canyon the temperature was 23 degrees, in the canyon the temperature drops to 12-15 degrees. The name of the Canyon 7 Stairs appears for the first time somewhere in 1920 when the access stairs to the canyon were made of wood, due to the weather outside (rain, snow) the stairs with time degraded and at some point they were a danger for visitors, so in 2013 the railings and wooden stairs were replaced with railings and galvanized metal stairs that even if it is wet do not slip on them (this I say from my own experience). The route through the canyon I can say that it gave me a bit of a thrill, all along the route inside the canyon there are several stairs (hence the name), actually I was carried away and I didn't count them but one of the stairs I think was about 18 meters high and it was very difficult to climb it (I saw some tourists who abandoned the route at this point), if somehow you have bad height I don't recommend you to come here, also I don't recommend you to come with children under 10-12 years old.    **Let's conquer the canyon.** The whole canyon took about half an hour, on the way you can't really stop because the tourists are coming behind you and you have to keep up with them, it's good to know that you can't go back, so you have to have decided if you want to visit the canyon.                    .jpg) We had a real adventure today through the canyon, I was really amazed by what I saw there. Dear travelers this was our adventure today in the 7 stairs canyon, after we got out of the canyon it took us almost two hours to get back to the car in total the whole route took us about 4-5 hours, in this time we took a thousand pictures we walked a few kilometers and we crossed the canyon from one end to the other. In conclusion if you are not afraid of heights I recommend you to visit this canyon is spectacular, but before you get here you have a hike through the forest (even if it's summer and it's hot outside inside the forest the temperature is only good for hiking), climbing the stairs through the canyon is done near water flows, in some places the water flows under the stairs, something amazing, clean air, silence, here you only hear birds singing. *If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.* *P.S. Congratulations friend, a wonderful post, I felt like I was on a real journey inside a beautiful forest. I love these places that breathe nature and freedom. The path that goes up the canyon and waterfalls is so beautiful, I would go to this place immediately, but my partner would not go with me, she is afraid of vertigo and climbing narrow stairs.
